As the end of the academic year is in sight, I wanted to share our learnings from this past year, talking to hundreds of forward-thinking teachers, schools, and associations about #esports. Top lessons for video game integration in schools 1️⃣ Picking the right entry point is vital and it starts with picking the right evaluation criteria When it comes to integrating video games at school, there are dozens of options (esports/game design/gaming x recreational/competitive/curricular). At DAIGON Esports we tested and explored these options with the following key considerations in mind (in order): 📚 Educational Benefit 😎 Ease of Integration 🏗 Capacity Building ♻ Sustainability 2️⃣ Build up your program progressively You need an easy to integrate, weekly occuring base with a clear educational proposition for esports at your school. This will help identify interested students, upskill teachers and create a structure on which to build for competitions and curricular integration. That's exactly why we build DAIGON's Esports After School club. 3️⃣ The primary educational angle for esports = 21st century skills These skills should be the core focus of any after-school esports program. That’s where esports can have the most value (asides from inclusivity and future success pathways) and these skills will be vital in the AI-era 4️⃣ If you're new to esports, start with a club and build staff capacity Our recommended best practice is: A. Start with a structured after-school club that has an emphasis on creating and measuring educational value - get the ball rolling, reach out B. Add on competitions as your time, resources, and network permits - DAIGON Esports is here to help ;) C. Look at curricular integration utilizing the staff that's been upskilled and involved in steps A &B
