This is a good demonstration of the use of Bureau of Meteorology seasonal forecasts.
As a Climate Mate with the University of Southern Queensland's Northern Australia Climate Program (NACP) I get to present at many different types of red meat industry and NRM events. Next Wednesday, 29th May, I am thrilled to be Macintyre Ag Alliance's guest speaker at their first ever Breakfast Event to be held at the Goondiwindi Cultural Centre. I am looking forward to sharing with my fellow producers, how my knowledge gained as a Climate Mate allows me to successfully marry seasonal outlooks and forecasts with economical and practical application to achieve productivity and sustainability in my grazing business. There is a maturing process happening now among the weavers of bioregional movements and holistic landscape restoration in the United Kingdom. This is connected with the larger tapestry of relationships spanning different parts of Europe.
Heading home to South East Ireland after two days of weaving together threads of landscape scale restoration initiatives at GO Falkland in beautiful Fife, Scotland. 🏴 Really enjoyed the conversation with Abi Mordin, Jenny Andersson, Phil Haughton MBE and carolyn bell on making food the centre of our Bioregional work. A key insight is that regional food networks are tricky to setup and learning across various approaches may accelerate impact! 🥗 Another great dialogue with Ninian Stuart, Kanada Gorla, Bridie Ashrowan, Jackie Thoms and Alastair MacKenzie on opening op land holding. We touched on the sensitivities around land holding and the land holding us, and ended on the importance of creating culture with better parties and better food! 🥳 Thanks also to Marian Bruce for the long chat about Bioregioning Tayside and bottom-up approaches over botanicals, and Clara Schade-Poulsen for sharing your passion for restoring the Forth River holistically. 🌳 Glad to have attended together with Sarah Prosser and Chantal van Ham to share insights and weave threads together. Thank you Ninian Stuart for calling this event into being. I feel it can catalyse change across Scotland and beyond! 💚

It's heartening to witness leaders like Ruben Eiras championing initiatives aimed at mitigating the adverse effects on ocean health. Throughout the discussion, speakers explored innovative strategies to encourage cross-industry collaboration, emphasizing the importance of leveraging collective wisdom and resources. It's clear that the path to sustainable ocean management necessitates a united front, where stakeholders learn from each other's successes and failures. Learning from experts who have been working in ecosystem restoration for decades, has been one of the most valuable opportunities we've had. Their experiences can help us make better choices and avoid making mistakes. A few months back, we had the privilege of meeting and visiting one of Paul Morris restoration projects Resilient Ecosystems Institute A.C It was inspiring to see the possibilities of what can be done. If you'd like to learn more about Paul's work, you can check his course on ecosystem restoration at The Soil Food Web School. #ecosystemrestoration #naturebasedsolutions #biodiversity
