Are we going to talk about shirts meant for advocacy becoming a moving billboard? This is what I mean: Organizations design shirt for the purpose of communicating an event or a cause, say for instance the world breastfeeding week. A shirt is designed for that purpose with a key message, which is very okay. The problem now is that these shirts become a billboard where every organization, CSO, CBO, etc want to seen (which isn’t bad), and then 4 organizations post their logos and hashtags on a single shirt and what not and then it isn’t a shirt anymore but a billboard. This practice is common in places where there are no control systems on what goes out to the public. Technicals in charge of communications should put in systems that check on these excesses, train staff and approve on key messages that goes to the public. The sight of it doesn’t encourage ownership of such valuable instrument of advocacy.

The significance of the #Public Health #Ethics #Framework in guiding #breastfeedinginterventions lies in its role in promoting #equity, informed #consent, #non-maleficence, #beneficence, justice, #cultural #sensitivity, transparency, and community engagement. This framework ensures that #breastfeedinginterventions are designed to reach all populations, provide #unbiased information, avoid harm, do good, allocate resources fairly, respect cultural practices, remain transparent, and engage communities effectively. By adhering to ethical #principles, these interventions can uphold individual autonomy, address health disparities, and support the well-being of both infants and mothers. Ultimately, the application of this framework is crucial in ensuring that breastfeeding #programs are effective, respectful, and just across #diverse societies. It was great joining #Lactahub to discuss this framework. #Lactahub #Theglobalhealthnetwork #Breastfeeding

UNwomenUK CSW68 delegate, Author,I coach women to live a healthy sexual and reproductive health life. I am your go to person for all things volunteering , social impact and project management.
There is a family planning method for you (you just don't know it yet.) In my post yesterday, I shared how I was able to help a woman in my community understand and choose a family planning method. At first, when she reached out to me, she was quite unsure if there was one suitable for her. But viola, As we got talking she discovered that injectables would work perfectly for her. Now when it comes to family planning, the decision is for you and your partner to make except when the family planning sees it is contraindicated based on 💥 your health condition, 💥breastfeeding, 💥Ability to comply. 💥Reproductive goals(like if you want more children and when) As you can see in the video, there are several options; 💥Condoms 💥Implant 💥Pills 💥withdrawal 💥Diaphragm 💥IUCD Have you used anthis methodethod and was it effective? Do you think only women should do family planning? How best can men be involved in family planning ? Tomorrow, I will share a story about a client who was using one of this method and her experience. Turn on the 🔔on my profile so you don't miss out. ................ I am Jennifer Akpata, a Registered Nurse and Midwife, certified family planning provider and Women's health coach If living a healthy sexual and reproductive life is what you want as a woman then you need me , Send a DM #15daylinkedinstorytellingchallengewithblessing #familyplanning #womenshealth #healtheducation #bvlc

The field of Reproductive Medicine is one I have always been interested and in the beginning I struggled with finding persons to look up to. Mentorship is an important concept in every profession. In the dynamic realm of reproductive health, mentorship emerges as a crucial force, shaping the industry's trajectory. Beyond technical skills, mentorship provides emotional support, aiding in the nuanced navigation of sensitive issues within the field. Mentorship fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, promoting a holistic approach to reproductive health challenges. It plays a role in promoting diversity and inclusion, ensuring a variety of perspectives contribute to decision-making processes. Embracing mentorship is not only about guidance but also sponsorship, actively advocating for mentees' professional growth and visibility. As professionals, actively engaging in mentorship cultivates a culture that propels the reproductive health sector forward. By fostering mentorship relationships, we contribute to a collective effort aimed at addressing challenges and seizing opportunities. In this collaborative spirit, the industry can continue advancing, ultimately improving reproductive health outcomes and promoting the well-being of individuals and communities globally. #ReproductiveHealth #MentorshipMatters

🚀 Spent this afternoon moderating an insightful fireside chat at Equals Amsterdam featuring Tirozh Roodenrijs-Mazoori from Unilever and Valeriya Gusarova from Medela all about my fav topic- supporting parents at work! Missed it? Here are my top 3 takeaways: 1️⃣ Personal Journeys Shape Professional Passion Both Tirozh and Valeriya's unique backgrounds and experiences—fuel their commitment to creating better work places for parents. Their knowledge and insights highlight the importance of personal experiences driving big change. 2️⃣ This work has impact! Both research from Medela and the impact of Unilevers parenting policies show how robust family-friendly policies, such as parental leave and breastfeeding support, significantly enhance employee engagement and retention. Valeriya shared compelling evidence of reduced sick leaves for breastfeeding mothers, underscoring the long-term benefits of such initiatives. 3️⃣ This work takes commitment Implementing and sustaining support for parents at work is no easy feat. Unilever's experience with bridging parental leave pay and the departure of their dedicated D&I role highlight the complexities involved. Yet, they continue to move forward! Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to this enriching discussion. Let’s continue to create more support for parents at work 🌟 Thanks for including me Dieuwke van Buren #DiversityAndInclusion #Leadership #ParenthoodSupport #EqualsAmsterdam

A couple of days ago I shared a podcast episode that was sent to me. It was about PKU adults and aging. The responses and engagement I received confirm something I know deep inside—this is a huge concern amongst PKU adults. But it’s not limited to the issue of aging. You see, from our perspective as PKU adults, much attention over the years has been given to children and caregivers. And that’s only natural. PKU advocacy began with caregivers, and for a long time the only people with PKU receiving treatment for life…. were children. But, and I can’t overstate this, in countless conversations with other adults with PKU… Whether in-person, via social media comments, or in direct messages, I hear this over and over… PKU adults feel neglected. I can’t speak for everyone, of course. And perhaps there are those who don’t feel this way. But… many do. For some, depending on where they live in the world, it’s by their clinics. They don’t feel like they get the care they need. For others, it’s family and friends who, as much as they care, can’t fully understand the experience of being someone who has PKU. That’s why we are drawn to each other. At conferences, on social media… Many PKU adults just want to talk to each other because we know the other person truly gets it. My advice to anyone serving the PKU community, and this comes from a place of deep love and respect for EVERYONE who serves us… Listen to PKU adults. Talk with them, but listen first. Because many… are hurting. They may not always know how to express it, especially if they struggle with treatment. But there’s a reason we PKU adults always band together. Always. And that’s because we need each other. But we also need support from all of you. #phenylketonuria #pku #pkuawareness #pkuadults #lowproteindiet #metabolicdisorder #metabolics #newbornscreening #newbornscreeningsaveslives #raredisease #rarediseasewarrior #rarediseaseawareness #rarediseaseadvocacy #rarediseaseadvocate

💡 Recommendations and suggestions please for experts on a range of topics affecting the child growth community! 💡 Based on feedback on what topics people would like to see covered at our convention, and also to cover key themes that people contact the CGF for support with, we’re looking to hold a round tables session at convention. These will be part of our wider agenda of condition specific sessions and other presentations on the day. We’ll have an hour to run these round tables, with each focusing on a different topic/theme, that people attending the event can move to across the hour and talk with experts on the topics alongside others attending the event. A few key topics we’re looking to include are: -Puberty -Education -Feeding issues -Starting treatment -Injection support and compliance -Explaining diagnosis -Discussing difficult topics -Learning difficulties If you have experts who’ve helped you with any of these topics we’d love if you could please get in touch with us with more information at convention@childgrowthfoundation.org for us to reach out to them about this.
