Some life science hiring managers are having the time of their life, recruiting their top pick, all-star cast, while others, are….well, NOT! Don’t be naive to think you’re the only one hiring said talent 🫥 You’re competing with: - External recruiters - Internal TA & HR teams - Other seasoned hiring managers. And the race for talent doesn’t sleep, let me tell you! Wanna level up your hiring close rate? Here are a few winning trends we're seeing in team 'happy hiring manager' camp:- ⚡𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱:once you’ve agreed on THE candidate, align your HR team immediately on your offer and communicate this to your candidate asap. It’s not ‘cool’ to delay this step to gain a psychological edge, and we found anything longer than 48 hours post-final interview to make an offer (verbal/written) led to a 60% reduction in close rate. 💰𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸𝘀: Inflation, cost of living, biotech layoffs ….it's a tough landscape. There’s no shame in admitting times are hard, so going a little above budget on offers where possible has been extremely well received, especially when candidates have had multiple offers to contend. 💪🏽𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀: If it takes your admin assistant to nudge HR, to then tap an interview coordinator on the shoulder, to finally schedule ONE interview, something’s broken. Dedicated comms channels on platforms like Slack, can be super effective. 💖𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: interviewing with C-suite decision makers can be intimidating. The candidate has made it to penultimate stage, the stakes are high and as a result they didn’t shine as bright as they had in earlier rounds. Showing vulnerability and a personal interest in the candidate to kick things off, can really make all the difference. There’s certainly no exhaustive formula to acquiring talent (and if there is, someone send it my way!). As humans we are innately unpredictable, but nailing these points will lead to a more positive hiring outcome and experience for all involved 💯 #hiring #executivesearch #lifesciences
