According to a lengthy article at Fortune, the Boring Company has a history of systemically bypassing and/or ignoring safety protocols and best practices, and this problem originates with management. So bad to see that this kind of dereliction of what should be the most basic managerial duty: ensure you have a safe workplace. We are talking about serious dangers, inter alia: lack of PPE when working with a chemical that causes serious burns and often splashes the face and eyes; the same chemical puddling several inches deep and in a location that must be walked through; lack of guarding on pinch-points; heavy machine parts falling from overhead; etc. Oh, and when an employee raised these concerns to management, he was fired just a couple of weeks later. This kind of thing was unacceptable when the trans-continental railway was built 150 years ago.
