Bob shared his experience with energy cooperatives as the former deputy mayor of Eeklo, Belgium, describing how locally-produced power can lower energy bills and give people a sense of ownership over the energy transition. Energy cooperatives are also more resilient to global events, such as the energy price spikes seen in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, ensuring power prices remain stable.
