In her video, "The Mind of the Engineer," Shalene Smith provides a unique perspective on the life of an engineer. Growing up with three engineer brothers, Smith's upbringing instilled in her a different way of thinking that is evident in her work today. As an engineer, you begin to view everyday objects such as park equipment and toys in a completely different way. Smith’s perspective on the definition of an engineer is interesting and relatable as she describes the way one's thought process changes as they learn more in engineering courses. https://lnkd.in/gCWY8jJX

CUTR Researcher, Tia Boyd, participated in the ASCE International Conference on Transportation and Development held in Atlanta, GA, from June 15, 2024, to June 18, 2024. Tia presented three posters at this conference: 1. The Access Management Curriculum for University Planning & Engineering Programs based on a project with the National Institute for Congestion Reduction (NICR), 2. Noteworthy Practices for Cross-Agency Traffic Safety Coordination based on a project with Hillsborough County, and 3. Understanding How We Can Make Commercial Driveways Safer: Exploratory Analysis Through Case Studies based on a project with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).
