The Boca Raton resident and cancer survivor wanted to give back, so he brought along his team and spent the day pampering our nurses with makeovers and giving them tutorials. Thank you Tim Quinn for a great day and showing your appreciation!💚 #nursesweek

Patient Safety Advocate, Evidence-Based Practices Implementations l Perinatal & Neonatal Quality & Safety
TWENTY-SIX US Hospitals in 13 states were recognized by U.S. News for excellence in outcomes for our Black birthing patients. Let’s celebrate these hospitals here in the middle of Black Maternal Health Week with the understanding that there is SO MUCH MORE to do. According to the March of Dimes, in 2023, there were 2,158 operating birthing hospitals in the United States. 26 of them provide evidence based, equitable care that has improved outcomes for our Black birthing patients. twenty-six of 2,158. Looking at it another way…. 1.2% of US hospitals improved outcomes for our Black mommas & their babies. Let that sink in. Let’s learn from these organizations that are making a difference. I am so grateful I get to work for a company & be on a team of professionals committed to moving the dial & making the United States a safe place to be pregnant and birth for EVERY SINGLE patient. As Elizabeth Rochin Ph.D., RN identifies, not all birthing hospitals in the country chose to participate in this assessment. The metrics percentages US News chose to use as benchmarks for cesarean delivery & neonatal complications are solid numbers. My hope is that most (I would wish for all, but unless mandatory, all is a dream…) birthing facilities published their outcome data with stratifications by race & ethnicity so patients, families & clinicians could make informed decisions about where to receive their care or where to work! Additionally, these are two measures. Two outcomes of hundreds that suggest equity in outcomes in these areas. It’s a starting point, not an end point. & these hospitals should be applauded for their work & the work it took to participate. We can learn from them. There is so much work to do & it’s good to have a spotlight on some good & bring dialogue to this crisis. https://lnkd.in/enDNdeeF

👶 May is NEC Awareness Month! 👶 As we observe NEC (Necrotizing Enterocolitis) Awareness Month, let's shed light on its impact not just on infants, but on their families and healthcare teams too. NEC is a serious intestinal disease that primarily affects premature infants, but can also occur in full-term infants. Its effects can be devastating, leading to severe complications and even death if not promptly treated. For families, NEC brings immense stress and worry. Watching a newborn battle such a condition can be emotionally draining and financially challenging. It often disrupts the joyous early moments of parenthood and requires families to navigate a complex healthcare journey. On the healthcare front, NEC poses significant challenges for the medical team. Treating NEC requires a multidisciplinary approach involving neonatologists, pediatric surgeons, nurses, dietitians, and other specialists. Coordinating care, making critical decisions, and providing support to families demand not just medical expertise, but also compassion and empathy. This NEC Awareness Month, let's raise awareness about this condition and its ripple effects. By advocating for better research, improved healthcare practices, and increased support for affected families, we can strive towards better outcomes for our tiniest fighters. #NECAwarenessMonth #NICU #Preemies #Famlies #HealthcareTeam

If there was ever a moment to realise precisely why the next UK Government must prioritise a long-term, cross-government strategy for cancer care, this must be it. No one should receive a cancer diagnosis in public, nor should the hardworking NHS staff be having to treat their patients in corridors. This level of care is the result of a system in crisis. The next Government has a critical opportunity to transform people’s experience of living with cancer. Together, with politicians and partners, we can revolutionise cancer care for people now and in the future.
Hospital patients are regularly treated on chairs in corridors for extended periods of time - and sometimes even days, the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) has said. They are also receiving cancer diagnoses in public areas, and may have to undergo intimate examinations there too, the union added. Read more: https://trib.al/hg59q65

Dedicated and passionate BDM; Aiming to Propel NHS Triple A Framework Goals. Create Strong Partnerships with NHS & Private Healthcare: Enabling Seamless Pathology Support for Clinicians & Accelerated Patient Diagnoses
This article below... 👇 This is why I am so passionate about working for Source BioScience, in the #pathology sector supporting the #NHS industry. Being able to help ease the pressure and demand on the #NHS sector in any form is rewarding, and with our experienced team at Source BioScience providing industry leading turnaround times for diagnosis on a range of specialties, we can hopefully ease some of the burden on the hard working #NHS teams. This is not enough to address the wider issues though, and strongly echo the words of Macmillan Cancer Support on changes needing to be made for long-term plans for the next government to address the other areas for cancer care.
