Reflecting on the profound impact of everyday interactions. Years ago, as a front desk manager at a newly opened resort, a simple act of kindness led to a life-changing moment. A woman with her infant son approached me, asking to see a guest room. Little did I know, she was the Associate Director in our company’s regional sales office, who would soon be returning to work from maternity leave. Since the resort had opened during her leave, she hadn't been able to attend the resort tours for her team. I felt compelled to give her a full tour, and we ended up spending over an hour exploring the resort together. Her gratitude was overwhelming at the end of our impromptu tour. Months later, after she had returned to work, she approached me at the desk. Remembering our earlier encounter, she thanked me again for the tour, but then asked me a surprising question: had I ever considered a career in group sales? That moment marked the beginning of an incredible journey. A short while later she became the Director of Sales in our regional sales office, and after working in that office as a Group Sales Manager for a few years, I advanced to Associate Director of Sales. Our office became a tight-knit team, many of whom I still call friends today. She remains my mentor, and though our paths diverged as we took on different leadership roles (and eventually we both chose to go back into individual contributor roles to focus more on our families), I will always cherish the years we worked together as some of the best in my career. This experience taught me a valuable lesson: you never know where your next interaction could take you. It could lead to a lifelong friendship, reveal a new career path, or simply brighten someone's day. #CareerJourney #KindnessMatters #UnexpectedOpportunities #thewayyoutreatpeoplematters

Recently, I had an interesting encounter with a candidate who approached our front office for the receptionist position we had advertised. Despite his CV being completely unrelated to the role, I decided to speak with him. It became evident that his English communication skills were limited, and he lacked specialization in any particular field, with brief stints at previous jobs. However, he displayed enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. Reflecting on my own challenging journey to secure employment in past, I saw potential in him and offered him a chance to join our team. Today was his first day, and I was eager to see how he would perform. To my delight, he arrived promptly and began his day with enthusiasm. After a quick orientation by housekeeping supervisor, he immediately started cleaning office windows. Witnessing his dedication, I started envisioning his growth within our organization, perhaps transitioning into maintenance or other areas. However, my optimism was abruptly interrupted when HR informed me that Ari, the new staff, wanted to resign. Despite my efforts to understand his reasons, it became clear that he was determined to leave. This experience reinforced the realization that some individuals cannot be helped unless they are willing to help themselves. It's a lesson in understanding the limits of our influence and the importance of personal determination in achieving success. #CareerDevelopment #Leadership #EmployeeEngagement #PersonalGrowth

People often see just the current stage and forget the path you’ve walked. At 15, I started earning €1 per hour helping out at an insurance company. So, what changed? I’ve navigated through various roles: • Housekeeping: I hated it with all my heart. • Distributing Fliers: Learned patience. • Bartending: The best way to improve my English. • Swimming Teacher: Teaching something I spent hours mastering. •. Waitress: I got fired as I was not smiling enough. • Personal Trainer: Making my hobby my work (not recommended). • Call Center: Fired because I couldn’t sell anything over the phone. • Post Office: Offered a permanent position after summer. • Hostess: Good rate for a weekend job during studies. • Administration: Learned organization and automation of repetitive tasks. • Testing Hearing Aids and Ventilation: Earned while studying or sleeping. • Engineer: Changing careers to IT was quite a challenge. • Consultant: Learned how to help others. • Independent Contractor: Learned to run a small, but my own business. • Teacher: You need to understand something well before spreading knowledge. • Event Organizer: Bringing people the best value. • Investor: Making my money work for me. I’ve also worked and studied in various countries: • England • Belgium • Poland • Denmark • Greece • Romania • China Reaching a certain point takes time and experience. There are no shortcuts, but be open and try different things. Some stuff will work, and some stuff will teach you something. Embrace the journey!

I had an eye-opening experience with a 5* hotel manager. (Don’t be a liar like him!) Last summer, I decided I wanted to work. Since I’m a tourism management student and have a tourism tech diploma, I sent my CV to a few hotels applying for a receptionist role. 🛎 Later, I received an email inviting me for a job interview. The interview went well, then he invited me for a trial day. The day of the trial went smoothly. I handled guests, check-ins and outs, reservations, and all the receptionist stuff. The manager said everything went fine, that I fit in well, and told me that he’ll contact me when can I start. I was EXCIIITEEEDDD! 😍 A day passed, two days, five days, a week went by... and still nothing. I texted him to ask when I could start, but he ghosted me. 👻 I thought maybe they didn't get my message, so I called him 3 times, but still got no answer. 📵 I was so curious what's going on, I made a little trick. I called him from my friend's number, he picked up, realized I phoned him and said that he was in a meeting and would call back ASAP. Well, that was a lie! 😂 At this point I got soo f* pissed and didn't pursue it further. He hasn't contacted me since. It's very unprofessional and unreliable, it reflects poorly on the manager and the 5* hotel too! 📚 Lesson learned: ↳ Never beg anyone → If you're truly needed as a professional, you won't need to chase after the managers. 💡 Tip for employers: ↳ Every feedback matters → It's okay to say no! You're doing a favor by answering, and it saves people from hoping you'll call. I hope this story was instructive, and that you won't make the same mistake both of us made. Later that summer, I got a job as a receptionist in an another hotel! Helpful? Repost!♻️ For more, follow me → Nikolett Jaksa!✅ Remember, don’t beg, and don’t waste other people’s time!❌ PS. Have you ever had a bad experience with managers?
