As the New Year rolls in, many of us enthusiastically dive into health-related resolutions - promises to exercise more, eat better, shed those extra pounds, and the list goes on. Yet, by February, these ambitions often dwindle into mere wishes. In my personal journey, I've found that making lasting habits stick necessitates seizing the low-hanging fruit and reaping substantial rewards. Enter the morning walk. Morning walks encapsulate three pivotal health habits: 1. Movement: Initiating your day with movement sets the tone for increased energy throughout the day. Early sunlight exposure also aids in regulating the evening release of melatonin, promoting better sleep. Note: viewing through a window doesn't count! 3. Mindfulness: Immerse yourself in the present moment and your surroundings during your walk. This intentional act of mindfulness helps alleviate stress, diminishes anxiety, and boosts mood. Consider it a walking meditation session! That’s the gist. One walk, three scientifically proven health-boosting habits. The walks need not be lengthy; start with 5 minutes and progress from there.
