Micheline El Achkar studied agriculture and food technologies in Lebanon and Paris, as well as a master’s in technology and innovation management, before landing a training position for a joint venture between Nestlé and L’Oréal. Her first full-time role was at L’Oréal as a product communication assessor. Fifteen years later, she has worked her way up to oversee the research and innovation team for luxury brands at the French cosmetics conglomerate. “When we graduate from college, we have a lot of theoretical knowledge, but it is very different from the daily industrial business. So I learnt a lot on the job. For my job in research and innovation, a [background in] science is mandatory, but there are a lot of jobs where other skills are in demand.” Dive into the article, How I Became... I am delighted to share that we presented our marketing strategies yesterday in front of Procter & Gamble professionals, Hashem Merghany and Maryam Osama Hosny 😄 As part of the P&G Standout Commercial Challenge, we were tasked to solve a real-world case study. The case study was about creating a marketing strategy for promoting Fairy capsules for dishwashers in the Egyptian market. Under my supervision and leadership, we started conducting detailed market research to understand our consumers' needs, behaviors, and activities. To do this, we used many market research methodologies. After specifying our target audience, we started making a competitive analysis. The aim of this analysis is to determine our competitors' strengths and weaknesses so we can convert these negatives into positives for our product. Then, we introduced the challenges that may affect our growth potential. To solve them, we used SWOT analysis to determine Fairy Capsules' strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Finally, we specified the strategies that will be used to achieve our main goal: growing the Capsules segment by 50%, along with our marketing goals. At this stage, I used the AIDA Framework to identify the stages of potential consumers so I can attract them to purchase Fairy Capsules! In conclusion, I want to thank my team - APEX Team - Karim Mostafa, Mostafa Ashraf, Mohamed El-Gohary, Rana Hatem. Also, I want to thank everyone who helped to reach our goals ❤️ Many thanks to Abdel Rahman H. Yahia, Aya Gamal Omar, Sarah Rizkalla, Alaa Amer for providing us this opportunity, and guiding us to success.💙 #KCC_PG_10th #standout #procterandgamble #MarketingStrategy #FairyCapsules #TeamSuccess

Business leader with Marketing expertise. Managing Director, Nitro121(Marketing and Advertising). Partner, Lucent Consulting Company. Top 100 Most Influential Global Marketing Leader, 2018 (World Marketing Congress).
#ThrowbackThursday #memoirofabrandmanager Doors to several roles that I’ve walked into after my many years at Cadbury were opened by colleagues that I previously worked with. (Side note: as much as it depends on you, keep bridges intact). One of such was the role of Africa Marketing Director (Family Nutrition) at #gskconsumerhealthcare. At a time I was starting to think I needed a change from the role I was in, I got a call from a former colleague if I would like to interview for a new role being created at GSK. Coincidentally, the GSK office was round the corner from where I worked at the time, and I could actually see it from my office (smile). I accepted the invitation, did the interviews and thankfully got the role which was a career-progressive move as it offered a regional/continental opportunity to build strategy and relationships across markets in sub-Saharan African markets working with diverse stakeholders with different cultural and leadership mindsets from across the globe. The main brief was to relaunch #Horlicks food drink in key markets in sub-Saharan Africa, and my knowledge and experience in the cocoa beverage market was a critical factor. Guided at the start by Shubhajit Sen and working with my core team members Puneet Das and Liz Gichangi, and others across markets, we built a value proposition #strongsmarthealthy unique to Africa based on local consumer insight, slightly different from the brand’s global positioning of #tallstrongsharp and introduced new pack and product formats to address relevant market needs such as critical price points and flavours. In the process, there was plenty of tension between local/regional and global teams around strategy and execution, especially when there was a change in leadership of the global category team, what I like to call the battle between #globalization and #glocalization, and success was limited. In the end, we agreed to disagree or disagreed to agree, but it was an interesting, growth experience and I learned a lot about project and stakeholders management 😊. PS. Some of the people in the photo might be recognizable to some reading this. They have progressed to greater impact in various career fields. #marketing #brandmanagement #brands #stakeholdermanagement #projectmanagement #career

3 years in notebooks. 3 years that really shaked me. Last week, I was telling my 8-year old daughter : “Enjoy your age, you are so lucky : every day, you learn and discover new things. This is a chance that does not last when you’re getting older” I was wrong : my experience at dsm- firmenich proves the contrary : out of my different professional experiences, no doubt this 3 year-journey is the most transformative one, the one where I’ve learnt the most. 🔹I’ve learnt what “stepping out your comfort zone” really means; and yet, I’ve lived 7 years in Russia 😊 🔸I’ve learnt patience by observing passionate teams working 3, if not 5 years, on a fragrance development before winning it. 🔹I’ve learnt what is true flexibility, adapting in an ever evolving structure & environment, driven by the obsession to best serve our client needs. 🔸I’ve learnt HOW TO WIN in BtoB. 🔹I’ve learnt how art & science can be so interdependent : the best of creation combined with the best of science to give birth to the most beautiful fragrances. Thanks to all my dsm-firmenich friends for those 3 years.
