New Post: How to Hire a Line Cook - https://lnkd.in/gpYpwUPa - Line cooks: the spirited backbone of any bustling restaurant, their hands skillfully maneuver through an eclectic dance of chop, sizzle, and sear. Understanding how to open a restaurant and how to hire a line cook, a craftsman in the restaurant industry where cuisine becomes an eloquent language, is an undertaking equally nuanced and vital. It’s essential, especially if you’re considering creating line cook job descriptions or even dishwasher job description, for potential recruits. What is a Line Cook? A line cook represents more than just a job title; it embodies a role filled with precision, passion, and the artistry of food preparation. These culinary experts carry a wide range of responsibilities that are essential for creating an exceptional dining experience. Building a team with contractors and freelancers, including line cooks, can offer both flexibility and expertise within a vibrant kitchen setting. From meticulously preparing ingredients to strictly following recipes and skillfully ensuring that each dish is assembled and served promptly, line cooks play a crucial role in enhancing the overall dining experience. If you want to learn how to hire a line cook effectively, understanding their importance is key. The Duties and Responsibilities of a Line Cook Have you ever watched the busy kitchen scenes in a movie and wondered about the choreographed madness behind the dishes? That’s the line cook arena. Here’s a snapshot of what they do: Ingredient Preparation: This is the primary duty of a line cook, ensuring ingredients are fresh, adequately portioned, and ready for cooking. Following Recipes: Every dish should taste consistent, and it’s the line cook’s job to follow the exact recipe every single time. Timely Assembly: Beyond just cooking, the timely assembly and presentation of dishes is crucial. After all, nobody likes waiting ages for their food. Maintaining Cleanliness: Amidst the hustle, keeping the workstation clean is imperative to ensure food safety and smooth operations. This becomes especially crucial when considering the dishwasher job description as well. Equipment Management: A line cook often handles various kitchen tools and equipment, and they’re responsible for their proper use and maintenance. The hiring processes, especially for niche roles, often come with challenges. Whether you’re debating should I hire a family member as a line cook or send out an interview rejection letter to someone who didn’t fit the bill, every decision shapes the future of the restaurant. Line Cook vs. Head Chef While both are crucial cogs in the restaurant industry, there’s a world of difference between a line cook and a head chef: Responsibilities: While a line cook is primarily involved in cooking and preparing, the head chef oversees the entire kitchen operation, from menu creation to staff management. Charging a fee for late cancellations is not always evil... Another article about cancellation fees, but this time more nuanced. Operators understand that life happens and plans can get derailed. If you have the decency to call or email (instead of not showing up), you won't get charged the fee. In one example, when the cancellation didn't go through, the guest was even compensated with a gift card. 😍 Nice! 😍 Now, do you think charging for late cancelation is a bad practice? How late is too late? #restaurant #restauranttech

There's one simple way to get your servers and bartenders to sell more loyalty cards. Give them more time. Your FOH staff are your sales force. Once your marketing gets your guests in the door, it's up to your servers and bartenders to maximize sales. It's not about selling guests things they don't want. It's a restaurant, not a used car lot. However, you do want to make guests aware of as much of your offerings as possible. One of those key offerings is loyalty cards. We all know that loyalty cards build email lists, and email marketing is still the most direct way to put offers in front of customers. That's why you want your staff to sell as many loyalty cards as possible, right? But they can't sell loyalty cards when they're running around in survival-mode. When your FOH staff is just trying to survive, the last thing they're thinking about is selling loyalty cards. So how can you help them? Invest in improving their workflow, so they can be as efficient as possible. Efficient workflow processes keep your staff out of survival mode, and allows them to be in sales mode. Your staff is much more profitable when they can do their jobs faster and stay in the right mindset. Omni-Rinse equipment helps your staff stay out of survival mode by decreasing drink ticket times. The faster your servers get their drinks, the faster they can get back to their tables and sell. Seconds really do matter in the restaurant business. Come see us at the National Restaurant Association Show in May--we'd love to tell you more about how we can make your FOH more efficient! #bars #restaurants #cocktails #foodserviceequipment

A forever competitive industry where marketing is harder to track yet is essential to the success of foot traffic and staying open: The restaurant industry. Restaurants must incorporate creative marketing that captures attention and creates a hankering appetite for potential customers. Here are some tactics to include in your strategy to set your restaurant apart: 📝 Optimize Online Menus Create descriptions and mouthwatering food photos that drive drool-worthy (literally) attention hooks hungry searchers. 💌 Loyalty Programs Create rewards tiers that give perks like free items, preview tasting events, early access to events and RSVPs, and birthday desserts to nurture regular revisits. 📲 Email & SMS Targeted Offers Send customers dinner reminders, updates, happy hour deals, discounts and promos, event details, and campaign and holiday notifications. 📸 Insider Social Media and Other Channel Content Share sneak peeks showcasing exclusive stories, secret menu items, chef collabs, and restaurant atmosphere content to build FOMO intrigue. 🤝 Community Partnerships Partner with complementary local businesses for value-stacked cross promotions, gift card bonuses, and bundling offers to expand exposure and validation. 🍽 Experience, Experience, Experience Without a doubt, your customers' experience is EVERYTHING. Make it feel special whether they are a first-timer or a loyal recurring customer. Make them feel as if they HAVE to come back and as if every time they come it is an event. Restaurant patrons today want more than just exceptional food, they want an engaging brand relationship and experience through shareable experiences on the menu and with your staff. #marketingstrategy #restaurantmarketing #restaurantstrategy #foodmarketing

Who do you trust as your "trusted source"? After a disappointing restaurant experience on Friday night, I wonder (again) why I bother to put my trust in online reviews as a basis for a dining decision. Clearly other people’s star ratings don’t reflect my priorities, and the only way to verify and validate something like a restaurant rating is to go through the pain of paying the bill for a less than average meal. Restaurant dining aside, we are expected to act through intermediaries (digital content platforms and their algorithms) as our “trusted source” for verifying and validating the truth of something. As with my restaurant choice, the question is then who do you trust as your “trusted source”. Take trading partner identity, for example. Procurement and Supply Chain management colleagues are faced with the continuous problem of verifying and validating company identity (supplier data cleansing, supplier on-boarding, anti-fraud due diligence), most often starting with name-based searches across multiple platforms - a human-based process of judgement and approximation, even when equipped with 3rd party services. The Know Your Supplier program www.ekys.org (like Know Your Customer but for suppliers/vendors) goes direct to the source to fix the problem of trading partner identity once and for all. Know Your Supplier uses verified and validated government business register data powered by the International Business Registration Number (IBRN) - the government business registration number (in international format, the IBRN) is the first identifier assigned to any legally registered business, and as such is its authoritative legal entity identifier and the government business register is the authoritative source on that business. And who do you trust as your “trusted source”? The authoritative one, of course.
