🌎 Unpacking the Power of Diversity in Global Business Strategies with AUSSENWIRTSCHAFT AUSTRIA | Female Founders | C&A Last week at the Exporttag 2024, we dove deep into the transformative role that diversity and inclusion play in global expansion. As highlighted during our panel, "Even though diversity is a no-brainer when expanding, many start-ups still fail to sufficiently acknowledge this dimension," as noted by Renate Schnutt. Incorporating insights from Erin Meyer’s "The Culture Map", our discussion explored how understanding cultural dimensions—such as communicating across high and low-context cultures—can drastically improve international business interactions. Meyer’s framework illustrates the importance of adapting to different cultural norms to foster effective communication and collaboration. This is why we pledge to champion diversity and inclusion as crucial KPIs for business success, far beyond the HR agenda, bringing these practices to every strategic table in Austria and beyond. Thank you to our great panelists: 🔵 Renate Schnutt from the Außenwirtschaft Austria, who provided profound insights into the nuances of global trade. 🔵 Valerie Hengl, CEO of Female Founders, whose dedication to empowering female entrepreneurs continues to inspire. 🔵 Norbert W. Scheele Scheele, Head of European Expansion at C&A, who shared invaluable strategies on scaling operations across diverse European markets. 🔵 Josefine Schulze, who masterfully hosted the discussion, weaving together domain expertise and professionalism. 🔵 Our keynote speaker, Desiree Jonek-Lustyk, whose expertise in Diversity-Equity-Inclusion research set a thought-provoking tone for our conversation. 👉 Why should you care? Embracing cultural diversity and inclusion isn't just the right thing to do; it's a strategic imperative that drives innovation and growth. As we continue to face global challenges, integrating these values into the core of our business strategies is essential for sustainable success. Did you already consider diversity and inclusion as critical dimensions in your business growth? Join the conversation below and let’s drive these necessary changes in our society together! For any company interested in changing the status quo, please reach out and let's collaborate to drive the needed changes together. #DiversityAndInclusion #InternationalBusiness #PanelDiscussion #TheCultureMap #BusinessStrategy #Innovation #Austria

📸 International Female Founders Are Job Engine for Germany… Even During a Crisis! At the "Summit 2024 für internationale Entrepreneurinnen," organized by SIE gründet e.V.- Verband internationaler Entrepreneurinnen in Deutschland, Armando García Schmidt, Project Manager at Bertelsmann Stiftung, shared these statistics, highlighting the positive impact of international female entrepreneurs on the German economy and society. Even during times of crisis, we are growing as an active and important group that deserves more support and visibility. 🤝 This event made me feel connected, as I realized that many of the challenges I’ve faced as an international entrepreneur—such as cultural shifts, language barriers, and different business practices—are also experienced by other women. Entrepreneurship can often be a lonely path, but meeting so many women navigating the same challenges gave me renewed energy and ideas to continue my work as an entrepreneur. It was especially inspiring to see women from different parts of the world who have taken their businesses to very advanced levels of development. 🌱 👩💼 Imposter syndrome This is something many of us struggle with, especially when we feel that, as immigrants and women, the expectations are even higher. In this sense, I found Meri Khazaradze’s reflection particularly resonant. The founder of @Mexb.ai pointed out that our “perfectionist female approach” can often cause us to miss opportunities by waiting until we feel 100% ready before launching. Her message was clear: “You don’t need to be 100% correct to show the world your work; you just need to launch and keep improving along the way.” 🚀 ✨ It was incredible to be part of this Summit and to meet such amazing women Bis nächstes Jahr! #WomenEntrepreneurs #Summit2024 #SIEgründet #InternationalEntrepreneurs #Germany #FemaleLeadership #Empowerment #Growth #SupportNetwork

Last week, I was part of the Bertelsmann Foundation Trilogue, a leaders' Roundtable (square in the photo) on important global topics addressed from different perspectives from invited participants from different countries. It has been founded by a remarkable woman, Liz Mohn (in front in blue), with discussions led by one of Austria's former Chancellors Wolfgang Schussel (standing next to her). This year, we looked at expanding Europe's role in a far more complex world, where the center of gravity has turned to Asia Pacific with its vibrant economies. Since I just came from the Democratic Party Convention in Chicago, comparisons between the US and Europe -- the two areas defined as the 'west' -- came to me. I said that the US may have invented AI, but it's Europe that passed the first ever law that set guardrails for this emerging industry. Silicon Valley may have created the social media platforms used worldwide, but it was Europe that first developed privacy laws that are adhered to. The US is known for championing women in corporate leadership roles, but it was Europe that passed quota laws for women on boards, accelerating women's access to board seats not only in Norway, where it began, but in 42 other countries including the UAE, Malaysia and Panama. So European regulatory institutions are respected and impact other countries. The flip side of regulation, however, is bureaucracy, and European countries are known for its multilayered regulations that sometimes impede innovation. Try setting up a new business there quickly. The US, however, is more fleet-footed and fast -- a far more welcoming arena for entrepreneurs. That's how Silicon Valley came to being -- people with vision who started businesses in their garages or college dorms that then became global brands. Bottom line -- every region or nation has strengths to foster and areas it can improve upon. We'll be looking at that at the 2025 Global Summit of Women in Berlin next year.
