“Climate change is impacting everything around us, and every diving excursion reveals more of the impact climate change has on our planet. From bleached corals to plastic waste and nets floating in the sea, there is a stark reminder of our shared responsibility as individuals," says Devika Khosla, our creative director. At The Works Interiors, we believe in translating this awareness into action. Our stall at the Index Fair 2024 showcases pieces crafted from workshop waste, demonstrating our commitment to sustainable design. By working with natural, responsible materials, we aim to educate and inspire our artisans, clients, and vendors to make conscious choices that give back to the environment. Let's pledge to commit to a greener path and design for the future of our planet and make our choices count. #IndexPlusFairs #DesignInnovation #creativeleadership #designtalk #exhibition #reduce #reuse #recycle #climateconsciousdesign #architecture #interiordesign #designinspo #interiordesignproject #SustainableDesign #ClimateAction #TheWorksInteriors

🌿🌎 Happy Earth Day! 🌱🌈 This Earth Day, we’d like to highlight the importance of adapting a pro-Earth approach to site design to support and protect biodiversity. Through the thoughtful design and engineering of landscapes, we can encourage and revitalize the rich diversity of our planet's ecosystems, strengthen our infrastructure’s long-term resiliency, and minimize harmful wastes. 🌍💚 One method to applying a pro-Earth approach to a project can include integrating eco-friendly materials and site furniture. Green pavement, boardwalk, and decking selection can decrease plastic waste while providing increased rot and weather resistance. Tables, benches, bike racks, planters, and signage that incorporate recycled or upcycled plastics can provide additional positive impacts on the environment while enhancing the strength and durability of a site’s furnishings. Another method includes providing sustainable solutions to modern-day problems. Shoreline resiliency in the face of climate change can be achieved with bio-engineering solutions that utilizing all-natural, local stone materials and native plantings to prevent erosion, achieve a stabilized shoreline, and increase the water quality of our vital lakes, streams, and rivers. To help form a deeper bond and appreciation for the natural world around us, today we make the pledge to get outside and in touch with nature, and we invite you to join us. Whether it's a walk in a local park or a hike through the wilderness, immersing yourself in nature helps you connect with the beauty and complexity of our thriving, biodiverse, and interconnected world. 🌲🦋 Visit The LA Group website to learn more about the tailored approach we take to each of our diverse projects and join us in celebrating the Earth today and every day. Together, let's pave the way for a greener, more vibrant future! 🌿🤝🌎 #EarthDay #LandscapeArchitecture #PeoplePurposePlace #TheLAGroup #InvestInOurPlanet #PlanetvsPlastics EARTHDAY.ORG #EarthDay2024 #NatureLove #NatureConnection #ProtectOurPlanet #EcoFriendly #BioEngineering #EarthDayEveryDay #WLAM2024 #WorldLandscapeArchitectureMonth American Society of Landscape Architects NY Upstate ASLA

3 missions for our future. 3 pillars of values that we pursue. All with one overarching goal: to conduct our business responsibly. Circularity: We source, process and dispose of our materials responsibly along the entire NOËL & MARQUET value chain. Decarbonisation: From green electricity and closed water circuits all the way to energy monitoring - we are committed to minimising our ecological footprint. Empowerment: Our products are made by people, not only by machines. The well-being of our team is a priority as big as our premium quality production. We believe that sustainable transformation cannot be achieved by the isolated efforts of individual players, it requires the participation of the entire ecosystem. As an important actor in our field, we wish to lead by example and are determined to play our part in this important endeavour. It’s Scottish Climate Week 2024, and this year's theme is 'stories for change'. At Saxen, our philosophy is to influence a better workspace through great design, sustainable products, and understanding our clients' needs. We aim to help bring change by offering furniture, flooring and acoustic solutions made from recycled materials like discarded PET bottles, old clothing and used coffee sacks. We ensure all our furniture uses responsibly sourced wood from FSC-certified sustainable forests. Implementing sustainable design principles is a great tool to help businesses change to become greener workplaces for the future. Every step on the net zero journey matters. #ScotClimateWeek

During the Surface Design Show, I also attended the Circularity in Lighting panel. Speakers were from Nulty+ Gary Thornton, from BDP (Building Design Partnership Ltd) Colin Ball, from FUTURE Designs David Clements, from Lighting Design International Arianna Ghezzi, from Recolight Nigel Harvey. After the panel, it can be stated that LEDs changed the lamp technology but we should not be satisfied with this. There is still a lot to consider for a better future and to do that we need to consider modularity and flexibility more in lighting design. Also, we should focus more on reuse than recycling. By repurposing, and considering the embodied carbon, not just using the best product but maintaining it in the best way designers and clients can change the future together.
