Pharmacy Technician Pay in New England: Massachusetts and Connecticut were among the TOP 20 states for pharmacy technician pay, but the other states in the region didn't rank as well. May 2023 data released earlier this year by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) revealed that over 460,000 Americans were working as pharmacy technicians. With over 21,000 pharmacy technicians employed, the six-state New England region accounted for about 5% of U.S. pharmacy technician employment. Pharmacy Technicians Day recognises the significant and valuable contributions made by pharmacy technicians to patient health and medication safety. But it's more than that... It's the time to appreciate that as a pharmacist, I know that there is absolutely no way I would be able to get my roles done without the great team of technicians that I work with. They are an integral part of our hospital team. At Echuca Regional Health we know the future of hospital pharmacy cannot evolve without our pharmacy technicians. We are moving forward with advancing pharmacy technicians' career pathways, extending scope of practice and increasing clinical roles. In Australia, pharmacy technicians roles may vary from hospital-to-hospital, state-to-state. But the focus is the same, delivering precise technical and clinical services as part of the multidisciplinary team. Think about the roles of hospital pharmacists and technicians, and how they have changed over the last 10 years. Then think about what we can achieve by continuing to challenge the traditional roles of our professions. Medication safety and management processes still need to occur; let's just change the role that is responsible for it. Pharmacy Technician Pay in the U.S. Mid-East: Although the annual mean wage level for District of Columbia pharmacy technicians ranked 3rd best in the nation, PT annual mean wages in four of the five states in the region fell below the national average. May 2023 data published earlier this year by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) put pharmacy technician employment at more than 460,000. With over 62,000 pharmacy technicians employed, the U.S. Mid-East region, which encompasses five states and the District of Columbia, accounted for about 14% of U.S. pharmacy technician employment. The region is a weak one for pharmacy technician pay. Us pharmacy technicians are professionals in our own right - we are registrants of the same regulatory body as pharmacists, after all! Pharmacy technicians should all be empowered to deliver a service independent of a pharmacist. Pharmacy Technician Pay in the Great Plains Region: - Two states, Minnesota and North Dakota ranked among the ten BEST states in the nation for pharmacy technician annual mean wages. - HOWEVER, over 70% of the region's employed PTs lived in a state where the annual mean wage for pharmacy technicians was below the national average. Pharmacy Technician Pay in the Rocky Mountain Region: In general, the Rocky Mountain region is one of the better regions in the country for pharmacy technician pay, as all states register an annual mean wage for pharmacy technicians that tops the national average of $43,330. May 2023 data published earlier this year by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) shows more than 460,000 Americans being employed as pharmacy technicians. With almost 15,000 pharmacy technicians employed, the five-state Rocky Mountain region accounted for only 3% of U.S. pharmacy technician employment.
