When companies decide to implement a new HRIS or Payroll solution, they often jump right into the Evaluation process without first taking the time to consider the following important questions. ❓ Is Senior Management fully supportive of going to the market for a new HRIS? ❓ Has an appropriate budget been established and agreed? ❓ Is there a clear understanding of why a new HRIS is required for the business? ❓ Is the Evaluation Team committed and enthusiastic? ❓ Do you have a systematic evaluation process to follow? ❓ Has a realistic timeframe been agreed for the HRIS Evaluation and subsequent implementation? ❓ Has enough consideration been given to the potential impact of business process and organisational change? An HRIS Evaluation requires a pragmatic and auditable methodology with a detailed project plan of activities. Roles and responsibilities will need to be defined and the schedule must be realistic. It is also essential for you to provide your staff with visibility of their involvement and what you will expect of them during the HRIS Evaluation and Implementation processes. Optimistically, the HRIS Evaluation will normally take between 3 – 4 months from start to finish, presuming that all of your key stakeholders and the vendors are available at the times you need them to be. Do you have the right Payroll/Human Resources Information System (HRIS) in place for your organization? HRIS systems offer a wealth of helpful functions to help you manage anything from payroll, benefits, and performance to recruiting, succession planning, and training. The functions that are most important really depend on the type and size of your organization. For smaller and mid-sized organizations, it can be especially hard to know what functions you truly need and what you can wait on. It can also be difficult to know who the right vendor is for you. A large provider, like ADP or Paychex, might not be the right fir for a smaller organization from a cost and offering standpoint.
