Common mistakes in hvac design can happen when you do not understand heat load calculation and psychrometric. these two topics are essential for hvac designer. One common mistake is to calculate the total sensible load of a building including outdoor air ventilation from heat load software and to use sensible heat in btu/hr = 1.085 x cfm x delta T where delta T is the difference between the supply air temperature and the design dry bulb. This may result in a very high cfm if the outdoor air ventilation is very high. But your actually running cfm of the fan will depend on your space load which is a component of the total load. Thus, fans may be oversized and not running at BEP. Plus, when dehumidification is a byproduct of your hvac, you also need to check what is the final humidity you can achieve in your room especially so for part load control. So, click to register and learn heat load calculation, psychrometric chart and if possible acmv control. https://lnkd.in/gTUJ_DYj

RSK non-return dampers are commonly paired with small diameter exhaust fans where backflow prevention is required. Ideally you want to have a minimum of 1 to 1.5 diameters of straight between the fan and any obstructions in the air stream. This is to minimise turbulence and uneven loading of the fan impeller blades, which may result in reduced performance or increase in noise generation. Though, in practise they are often attached directly to the fan due to limited space or ease of installation. If given the choice to install on the intake or the discharge, we opt for the discharge side as the inlet condition to the fan is typically more critical – to avoid starving the impeller tips. On a side note, I’ve always been curious what the acronym RSK stands for and so finally googled it – Rotary Servo Kit. ______ At MEP Engineering Co, we provide engineering support and shop drawings to mechanical contractors delivering $500k to $20M+ mech contracts across Australia & NZ. I try to make regular posts on topics relevant to building services mechanical contractors. Be sure to Connect if you find the content valuable

Thrilled to share that I’ve completed the Certified Professional Program - ICP in HVAC Drafting! This program allowed me to deepen my understanding of HVAC systems—one of my favorite domains. Key takeaways include: 1.Duct design and insulation 2.Types of chillers and their workings 3.Equipment layouts and design development of ducts. Grateful for this enriching learning experience and excited to apply these skills in future projects. #HVAC #ProfessionalGrowth #MechanicalEngineering"

Boilers: A boiler is a heating system that heats water or steam in a closed vessel and distributes the heat through pipes to radiators, baseboard heaters, or underfloor heating systems. Furnaces: A furnace is a heating unit that warms air in one area and distributes it throughout the home via ductwork and vents. Heat Pumps: A heat pump is a device that transfers heat from a cooler area to a warmer area by using mechanical energy, often used for both heating and cooling a space.
