For #NationalInternDay, we're shouting out our intern Natalie! Natalie is an Architectural Technology student at Ranken Technical College. This is her second summer with us, and she's been absolutely crushing it 💪🏻. Natalie says her favorite part of working for Bond Architects is "the people — how open and willing to share knowledge they are." Thanks for everything you do, Natalie! #BondArchitects #BuildingBonds #TeamBond #architecture #internship

Managing Partner @DESIGNCEPT | Architecture & Interior Design Consultancy I Customised Services and Collaborations I
Absolutely aligned with the point Alhad Sir. 💯 Unfair practice of not paying interns by some architects and firms sets a wrong benchmark in the service industry. This practice encourages prospects and clients to negotiate on fees, assuming architects can get work done from interns for free. It has also come to light that some renowned retailers and companies refuse to pay advances or POs to consultants and vendors, expecting support until project completion and only paying after several follow-ups. This is like exploiting service providers under the guise of "project opportunities and more projects" Architects and interior designers taking opportunities without payments is unethical and should be avoided. Similarly, any user enjoying services without making necessary payments is unacceptable, unethical, and should not be entertained. Fair practice would help create a better working environment in the industry for future architects. Let's strive for #fairtreatment, #ethicalbehavior, and #professionalism in #architecture and #interiors.
Attention all architects and firms! It has come to light that some architects are still exploiting their interns under the guise of "learning opportunities." Recently, we learned about an " Pritzker " award-winning architect not paying their interns, and now we have heard about another architect asking interns to pay the company for the privilege of learning. This behavior is unacceptable and unethical. It is time for architects and firms to prioritize fair and just treatment of interns. Let's work together to create a better future for the next generation of architects. #fairtreatment #architecture #interns #ethicalbehavior

Unpaid internships not only exploit architecture students but also contribute to a culture of unfair salaries and free labor, negatively impacting the industry as a whole. Architecture Students: Summer internships are being posted; here are five things I wish I had done during my search. ☀️ It's that time again – summer internship applications are opening up, and it's time to decide where you're going to spend those precious summer weeks. In architecture, a bad choice isn't necessarily going to set you back, but a good choice can help you leapfrog your career forward. 1️⃣ Treat this search like you are looking for a full-time job, not just a summer internship. If you do well and they like you, they may extend an opportunity to continue to work there while you are in school or after you graduate. 2️⃣ Given #1 above, be sure that you not only like the work that the firm is doing, but you also enjoy their company culture. 3️⃣ Be sure to prepare to interview potential employers as much as they interview you. Consider what you want to learn (realistically) within a summer, and make sure what they will have you doing as an intern will help you do that. 4️⃣ It's OK to ask, and you should ask - if you can reach out to others in the firm and have conversations with them about what it's like to work there. 5️⃣ Always ALWAYS follow up via email (or be a dork like me and write a handwritten card in the lobby to give to the front desk on your way out) and reiterate your interest in working for the firm. It leaves a positive impression. Bonus!!! ✨An Internship is also a GREAT time to pursue other potential career interests you may be interested in pursuing. There are a lot of different paths for those with an architecture background. Now, those summer internships. Who's ready to make their summer count? #architects #architecturestudents #summerinternships #businessoperations #archcareers _____________________ I'm Evelyn Lee, FAIA, NOMA I help architects: ⇒ Think Differently ⇒ Increase Productivity ⇒ Create Opportunities
