Platinum Group Presents Four Businesses with Meaningful Capitalism Awards We awarded four companies with a Meaningful Capitalism award during a reception attended by more than 200 people, May 7, 2024, at the Metropolitan Ballroom in Golden Valley. The second annual Meaningful Capitalism Awards celebrates Minnesota business leaders who are successful at growing and running a financially sustainable business, and doing so in ways that tangibly benefit individuals, families and communities. This year’s honorees are (Large Company category) Delta ModTech, of Ramsey, Minn.; and (Small and Medium Companies category) Irish Titan, of Minneapolis; Mytech Partners, of New Brighton, Minn.; and The Prouty Project, of Eden Prairie, Minn. These four companies were among 10 finalists selected by a judging committee that reviewed 41 nominations. Not a huge fan of self promotion but going to give it a go 😂 Absolutely elated to announce that Mejuicer has been nominated for x 3 awards at The Spelthorne Business Awards 2024 🥳 We are nominated in the following categories: Best Sustainable Business Retail Excellence Best Bald-Owned Business * It is a wonderful feeling to see all your hard work recognised and celebrated. Huge thank you to our team for helping us develop in the categories we have been acknowledged for. Sustainability is key to our ethos and as we scale it’s my job to maintain those values and improve our credentials further. We now partner with ReFood UK who have helped us became a closed-loop sustainable business. None of our byproduct is wasted, and is instead turned into reusable energy ⚡️. Still plenty of work to do but we’re getting there ☺️ Retail Excellence…lol….it is genuinely called that 😂. We have had quite a year in terms of new clients and commercial growth. Somehow managing to treble revenue by only introducing 1 new member of staff. Our in-house delivery driver, Zane, has transformed our output, giving myself and Luke Wretham more time to focus on business development whilst maintaining, I hope, a friendly service with a smile which is what we are all about. To end the year by becoming part of the hospitality furniture at the biggest company in the world is a testament to this. I’ve had so much more time to actually strategise and grow the business and we couldn’t have done it without a reliable pair of hands delivering the goods. Finally, Best Bald-Owned Business. I was obviously most proud of this one but because I’ve been so busy I sacrificed my self-care routine, including shaving. Unbeknownst to me I had a fully grown pony tail on the back of my head. The judges saw this on a recent LinkedIn post and we were rightfully disqualified. Apologies for any upset or hurt this may have caused. Massive thank you to the Economic Development team at Spelthorne Borough Council. It’s so important to have at least one night to celebrate the work you do for your businesses. Last year was special and I’m hoping this year will be too. Great to be able to share a good news story from Craft Scotland. It was a pleasure to chat to the makers who participated in COMPASS to understand how it had shaped their practice. Lots to learn myself as a small business especially around values led business and how this helps with direction and assessing opportunities which includes having greater confidence to say no as well as push beyond their comfort zone. Thanks as ever to the makers who took the time to talk to me and be so open about the evolution of their practices. 100% of participants reported that COMPASS positively impacted their work as makers, with 46% stating it had a significant positive effect. 82% of COMPASS participants agree that understanding their values that underpin their practice helps them make better business decisions. 79% agree that as a result of COMPASS, they are more confident in saying ‘no’ in their business. 77% agree that as a result of COMPASS, they have the confidence to go for opportunities out of their comfort zone. https://lnkd.in/eS_bkDfS

Call me a nerd, a nature lover or just a future architect contemplating on holiday.. 🤓🏞️🚀⛱️ Walking along the river Limmat, which divides the two🇨🇭cities of Baden & Wettingen, I can’t help myself to draw a parallel to innovation at large organisations.. The Limmat flows steadily, its centuries-old path unwavering 🌊💦 Just like established organizations, it seeks efficiency looking for the path of least resistance. It’s kind of satisfying to watch the water move and also easy to understand why incumbent organisations choose “to go with the flow” rather than opt for disruption and discomfort.. After re-visiting “The Upside of Uncertainty: A guide to finding possibility in the Unknown” by the brilliant authors Nathan Furr & Susannah Furr, it becomes clearer than ever to me that in order to get corporates to disrupt and look for the contrary of “going with the flow”; each and every incumbent organisation need INDIVIDUALS who thrives in the opportunity-zone that uncertainty brings and are willing to challenge the consensus 👁️🍀🔛🗣️ -My message to all my fellow future architects out there who writing the history of tomorrow.. 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽 1. Do you work (or want to) in an innovative organisation? So how can you tell if it's a business which gets the need to innovate? One indicator I look for is how many layers of reporting are there between the Head of Innovation (or the lead person responsible) and the CEO? Ideally this should be a direct report but you can get away with one if it's an exec director. Anymore than that and I'd say your dreams are likely to end in disappointment. Agree? Disagree?
