"Snookie must be drunk - she's falling off the radar!" What happened when talented folks from racially diverse backgrounds weren’t forced to change or codeswitch in a professional setting? People listened differently. Instead of halfway paying attention, they laughed, leaned in, and asked better questions. Over time, we built more dynamic and high-performing internal teams because the communication just worked. Read more from J. La Mar Pipkins. #nonprofitleadership #coaching #nonprofitjobs

Great talk Katy and Kimberli. Your “Path to Advancement” and guidance to others is an inspiration. 🔸 Raise your hand, stretch yourself, be fearless 🔸 Be good at your own job, opportunities will come 🔸 Be visible, present (in office) 🔸 Succession planning works 🔸 Be curious, learn: “seek to understand how everything fits together” 🔸 Train others: “You can’t get promoted if you are the only one who knows how to do your role.” 🔸 Be patient: “You don’t have to leave a company to get promoted. Your career is a marathon.” 🔸Understand the new talent motivation: “it’s not work/life balance it’s work/life harmony” 🔸Gain board experience in non-profits boards as a path to public boards when you are ready. Thanks Kenton Kisler for another great Executive Connection event.

A different look at the gender gap in leadership. It seems like an obvious component yet it’s not often built into a company’s employee goals and education. I can say in my career that business, strategy and financial acumen has not been an integral part of my learning experiences. Though I have always understood how my role impacts the companies I’ve worked for, it’s a small piece of the puzzle compared to knowing how to offer strategies for our business to succeed overall. Some great advice to take as we navigate career goals!
