You've heard of the glass ceiling, but how about the glass cliff? That's when nonprofit organizations welcome people of color in but don't actually provide the budget, decision-making power, or resources to be effective leaders. It lets organizations appear more diverse from the outside without making institutional and cultural changes truly needed on the inside. Let's talk about it. Catch the latest Green 2.0 Movement episode with LaTresse Snead and Adriane Alicea. Listen at https://lnkd.in/eWiGyiZ9. #racialequity #coaching #nonprofitleadership

I work with nonprofits to get buy in and belonging to do the right fundraising strategies and raise more revenue.
This is one of my favorite parts of the conversation I had with Dr. Robyn Graham. We talked about practical strategies to manage anxiety and how to create long-term resilience as a leader. My biggest takeaway was just how crucial it is for nonprofit leaders to address their own anxieties to better lead their organizations. Strategic Advisor | Facilitator | Speaker | I help nonprofit CEOs & Department Heads create clarity from complexity, lead change well, and take their organizations from stressed to strategic
If you’re thinking about the kind of energy you want to bring into this next year, here’s a little inspiration from my 8-year-old. For the past several weeks, he’s been making these encouraging bookmarks to hand out at church and at school. To date, he’s handed out more than 50 bookmarks to classmates, teachers, and our church community members. The messages are his own - meant for grown ups and kids alike. They’re a great reminder of the simple, essential choices we can make to create connection and belonging, and make our shared world a better place. Here’s wishing you a fulfilling closeout to 2023, and the clarity, courage, and compassion to be a light and a leader in 2024. #nonprofit #leadership #management —- Hi, I’m Veronica LaFemina - a strategic advisor helping social impact executives create strategic clarity and navigate the day-to-day challenges of organization and team management. On LinkedIn, I write about practical approaches to improving the ways we think, plan, and work.

OneCause started using the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) #traction back in 2019. It’s helped our business tremendously, proving greater visibility and accountability of our annual and quarterly goals and any issues that arise, a system we use to track metrics and performance and creating a transparent cultural overall. Last week I had the opportunity to speak about Traction and the impact it’s had on our teams at the #afplead conference in Philadelphia to a room of nonprofit leaders. I’ve read traction 3-4 times now and still learn each time I do. The margins are covered with notes, the corners folded down on too many pages and it’s riddled with yellow highlighter. If you need a process that brings visibility, clarity and accountability- read this one! #nonprofitleadership #efficiencymatters #onecause

Creating thriving teams and cultures, helping executive directors get the results they've always wanted.
One of my favorite artists, Frida Kahlo, on the nature of impermanence. Change is constant. I'm seeing this with my kids a lot right now. Just when I think I've got a parenting approach figured out, they're onto a new developmental stage and I need to adapt again. It's not so different with leadership. As a leader, you're constantly navigating change, whether you want to or not. Sometimes intentional, sometimes with no control, like: -A star staff person deciding to leave the organization -A change in the funding landscape -A new board chair or board members Adapting to change and helping your staff do the same is one of the key skills of leadership, and one of the hardest to learn. Why? Because it starts with a mindset rather than a tactical skill. Change is inevitable. You will need to adapt. Developing self-awareness re: your tolerance for change and learning to expand that tolerance little by little is really valuable. What helps you navigate change effectively? #consulting #lifecoach #nonprofit #amandasilver #leadership #womeninleadership #leadershiptraining

So often, organizations splatter a list of values on their website for marketing purposes, to prove to potential clients, “Hey look! We are cool, kind, progressive people, and we want you to like us.” But how often do these organizations actually live their values internally? It might be time to adopt a values lens. Dr. Monica Sharma, in her book, "Radical Transformational Leadership" suggests asking yourself these questions: Did I do what I said? Did I deliver on what I planned to do? Are my actions congruent with my universal values? Did I speak up and speak out based on what I stand for? Am I the change I wish to see? In other words, do I walk my talk? Do I have the courage to create? We all must live our values. Do you have a values lens you live by? I found my business namesake trail today. When I first started Songbird Leadership, I wanted a name that not only represented my unique style and approach, but one that was also unmistakably “Jill.” As you may know, I love birds and have been a licensed bird bander for over 25 years, so the bird theme was a given. But why Songbird specifically? The mental image of songbirds calls to mind a variety of features that can also be applied to my executive coaching services, such as: Creativity: Many songbird species are great innovators when it comes to nest building. I enjoy creatively helping nonprofit leaders reach their goals. Communication: Songbirds are expressive savants – they probably wake you up on many a spring morning. Meaningful communication is a core tenet of executive coaching. Connection: Songbirds’ very lives can depend on connection with others through flocking. I assist nonprofit leaders in having more effective interactions with their team. I hope you appreciate the parallels as much as I do. 🤓 #Leadership #NonprofitLeadership #Nonprofit #ExecutiveCoaching #Songbird
