Over 5,000 wedding parties & special event hair in my career 👰🏻♀️💜✂️ People always ask me: “Gina, do you get a lot of bridezillas?” I always respond: “NOT at all!” The reason being👇🏻 The first thing I do (after sending over our price menu to a potential client), is hop on a call with them. 📞 This call is set up for a few reasons… 1-I can figure out it we’re a good match 2-the potential client can hear my passion & professionalism when we talk, it’s much easier than over an email 3-I go over specifics (when/how we charge for the special event, cancellation fees, travel fees, etc.) 4-I collect more info like what time they need to be finished with glam, how many people need hair/makeup done, etc. This way👆🏻everyone is on the same page and the expectations are clearly set up from the beginning. I also make sure I over communicate with our clients all the way through the big day. (Reminding them of how to prep the hair for the event, sending inspiration pictures of hairstyles before the trial so we’re on the same page, when we’re going to run the charges, etc.) 💯 In addition, after the event, I ask to see the professional pictures that were taken and if I can grab a few to showcase my work/my team’s work online. Lastly, I ask if I can send a survey over for feedback about their experience. 💁🏻♀️ How about you? What do you do to make sure your client has their most amazing experience with you?

So sometime ago, I went to the beauty parlor and this is what happened. I wanted to get a head massage and a manicure. And the person who did my head massage was very critical of my hair. He said that my hair was falling too much. That my hair was not very thick. That I have too much dandruff. That my hair is very rough. etc etc etc Also he said these things multiple times in multiple different ways. He perhaps said this so that I would buy more hair services from the parlor. But the only thing his speech did was make me less confident and also I decided to never go to any beauty salon ever again and do my nails and hair on my own as I usually do. Why I am saying this is because I want people to know that when you are selling something, you are not just selling a service or product, you are selling an EXPERIENCE. The customer should feel better about themselves after buying your service/product, not worser about themselves. Criticising the customer so that they would buy more of your services/products is just an unethical selling practice. Especially, places like beauty salons should prioritise customer experience as most of their customers are women and they go to beauty salons to groom their appearance which would in turn make them more confident and make them feel better about themselves. If a place which is supposed to make us feel better about ourselves also makes us feel worser about ourselves, then what's the use? I don't want to name the salon because I'm sure the founder's vision for the salon is much higher than what was represented by that one employee. But I do want to say that - as an employee, you are not just representing yourself but you are representing your company/organization, so be more mindful of how you speak to customers. And employers should be more mindful of who they hire. Hiring someone with skills is not enough. The person should also have strong values and morals. The person should be kind, thoughtful and mindful of the consequences that their actions might have. I also want to remind all women and girls that - you are intelligent, beautiful and amazing!
