“How to lose all of your market share, franchisees and profits in one years time” Pizza Hut 101 The writings on the wall for any and all national restaurant chains… Pizza Hut has alienated themselves so bad from the public image that their franchisees won’t even pay them to remain a franchise. Anywhere from 50-179 Restaurants closed overnight. Franchisees allege that Pizza Hut has not stayed relevant, nor competitive with Dominos, Little Caesar’s & Papa Johns, and have not made progress in upgrading technology and delivery apps. The franchisees would rather start fresh with 179 new restaurants than remain as “Pizza Hut” https://lnkd.in/eHYE-jAF

🍕 Top 10 Pizza Chains by Volume🍕 There’s a lot of dough in this list! According to recent research from Technomic, these pizza chains are leading the pack based on 2023 sales numbers. These are U.S. sales only- not international. 10 Round Table Pizza 9 Jets Pizza 8 Hungry Howie's Pizza 7 MOD Pizza 6 Papa Murphy's International The top 5 are all at $1 billion or more in sales leading off with Marco’s. 5. Marco's Pizza (Marco's Franchising, LLC) 4 Papa Johns 3 Little Caesars Pizza 2 Pizza Hut Hut $6.9 billion 1 Domino's Pizza $9 billion I think the most surprising to me is Pizza Hut. I still think of these units as the red roof of yester year. Which of these is your go-to for a pie? 👇 #PizzaLovers #RestaurantIndustry #FoodTrends #WeSellRestaurants

Yesterday, we talked about knowing your worth and the dangers associated with giving things away for free. That equation, Value + Vision + Integrity = Success needs to be balanced to work. Red Lobster decided to alter their value in a hope to bring in massive crowds that would hopefully spend money on the more favorable price point items (alcohol, steak, etc.). That didn't work out and rarely does. The CEO Michael Moran, MBA covers this story today.
"Sometimes you need to give something of BIG value to get them in the door. Then they spend money on the higher priced things we sell." -WAY too many CEOs that are no longer in business https://lnkd.in/d-W2eRzP Red Lobster just fell victim to breaking down their math equation and is now closing 48 restaurants throughout the US. They had their vision, right? Affordable seafood for the average family that might not have access to it normally. They had their integrity, right? They wanted to give that value and decided to do an endless shrimp deal that cost more to franchise owners than it made. YIKES!!! So, what part of the equation did they mess up? VALUE! Acts of desperation do NOT work in business. Red Lobster was hoping some people would get the endless shrimp and others would still get their higher priced items with better profit margins. You need to know your value and add it in with the rest of the equation. Customers went in droves for the endless shrimp and they were losing money on the transaction. One thing about customers is they will find value and they will exploit it. This is not cynical...this is business. I have another example of this today so tell me in the comments what are your thoughts on this? How could Red Lobster have done this differently? 🧠 💡 I want to hear your ideas and I'll share mine in the comments.
Red Lobster to close at least 48 restaurants after ‘endless shrimp’ debacle

🍻 Cheers to Growth! Mitchells & Butlers Sees 5.7% Sales Uptick 🎉 I'm excited to share the fantastic news that Mitchells & Butlers, the famed pub and restaurant group, has experienced a commendable 5.7% increase in year-to-date sales, compared to the same period last year. This growth spans across all its beloved brands, including All Bar One, Harvester, and Toby Carvery. While Q3's like-for-like sales growth of 3.4% was slightly softer due to Easter and weather-related challenges, the overall performance remains strong with food and drink sales shaping up impressively. In addition to sales growth, the company has made substantial strides with 139 conversions and remodels, six new sites, and energy-saving initiatives.. This proactive approach has positioned Mitchells & Butlers to continue capitalising on opportunities in the market. 🌍✨ #HospitalityIndustry #SalesGrowth #MitchellsandButlers
