Saving Tiny Lives, Creating Big Impact in Mexican Dairy Farming 10 years ago, the story of Mennonite dairy farms in Chihuahua, Mexico, was one of heartbreak. Male calves, born in excess, faced short, difficult lives: slaughter for veal or leather, or even euthanasia due to limited market value. But that's where FGH International Agribusiness Consulting stepped in. We saw the potential for a sustainable solution, and dedicated a decade to research and development. Today, we celebrate a transformation. Through our tireless efforts, we've built a complete meat value chain for bobby calves: New markets: We created new avenues for using these precious lives, creating lucrative business streams for Mennonite farmers. Waste not, want not: We opened doors for the sustainable utilization of agricultural byproducts, boosting farm efficiency and environmental stewardship. Welfare wins: Above all, we ensured the humane treatment of bobby calves throughout their lives. This is just one story, but it echoes in countless agricultural communities around the world. At FGH, we're more than just consultants; we're catalysts for positive change. We help farmers thrive, empower animals, and reshape the future of agribusiness, one bobby calf at a time. Join us on this journey of innovation and impact. Follow our story and see how FGH is leaving a lasting footprint on the global agri-landscape. #FGHImpact #dairysustainability #bobbycalves #changemakers

How would your view of food change if you were told we only had “Sixty Harvests Left”? Co-founder of MycoSure, Charles Reed, recently had the opportunity to chat to Philip Lymbery Global Chief Executive of Compassion in World Farming in World Farming (www.ciwf.org.uk). CIWF work with some of the world’s biggest food companies as part of their work towards a more ethical and sustainable food supply. While in South Africa to present Woolworths with a special recognition award for their leadership in cage free farming systems, Peter and Charles had a chance to discuss the pressing need for a more sustainable food supply and MycoSure’s vision to help change the way food is produced. Peter is also the author of Sixty Harvests Left. It’s both a stark and detailed narrative of the scale of challenges we are facing but likewise a roadmap as to how we can navigate these challenges to create a sustainable future. Placing the Van Dairy Woolnorth property on the market reflects a complex mix of business and policy factors. Media often sensationalizes overseas investments, overlooking Tasmania's potential for development with foreign capital. Tasmania offers immense opportunities for growth through external investment and focus should be to continue tapping into this potential for mutual benefit. #TasmaniaDevelopment #ForeignInvestment #BusinessOpportunities

I am very glad to join the Executive Committee of the IPIFF (International Platform of Insects for Food and Feed), our insect producers' and users’ association that have done so much these last years for the development of the European insect sector. There is still a lot of work ahead for the next years : now that production is becoming a reality in Europe, we need a clearer and applicable regulation, for production, food and feed use, circularity including frass usage for the soils. We need also a clear view on the European market for this sustainable new source of proteins and how it takes place in our European sovereignty and in the green deal. We cannot continue to say “we need to develop more alternative sources of proteins for Europe” and continue to import massively without any environmental or regulatory constraints non sustainable sources of proteins from all over the world. I am really looking forward to work with my colleagues of the IPIFF Excom to strengthen and accelerate the development of this important sector for Europe.
Last week, IPIFF (International Platform of Insects for Food and Feed) held its General Assembly Meeting. The IPIFF constituents elected Adriana Casillas, CEO of Spain-based Tebrio, insect industry leaders, as President for the second 3-year mandate. During the General Assembly meeting, Frank van Sluis (Protix) was re-elected as First Vice-President, Antoine Hubert (Ÿnsect) as Second Vice-President, and Heinrich Katz (Hermetia Baruth GmbH) as IPIFF Treasurer of the EU-wide umbrella organisation. During the high-level meeting, Sophie Delplancke (Innovafeed), Christian Bärtsch (Essento Insect Food • Making insects delicious), Daniel Murta (EntoGreen) and Sebastien Crepieux (Invers) were also appointed to the Executive Committee. Congratulations to all elected members! More about the General Assembly 👉 https://bit.ly/3L4AIhl

Years ago I sat with some friends from lagos and calabar at a hotel reception and we struck up a conversation about business enterprises.. I recur vehemently hammering on the fact that when you begin a business it doesn't grow at the initial stage,it develops. here is an example of one such business in the livestock industry https://lnkd.in/dmna_UP4
