One of the first “aha moments” when I joined Fitz’s wasn’t even about the sodas,… it was about their restaurants. Running a restaurant is comprised of simple fundamentals and yet executing those simple fundamentals consistently is HARD There is something about the TEAM concept at Fitz’s restaurants and the interaction with the consumer & the constant goal of delighting them that makes me so impressed with Fitz’s When you think about the role of the Fitz’s restaurant managers,.. it’s more than just — scheduling — managing the employees — how to make a sandwich — how to make a world famous Fitz’s Ice Cream Float It’s also about helping their team members in LIFE. In some cases a manager may have helped someone who is getting their first job to: — set up a bank account — put themselves on a budget — get admitted to school while working to achieve their life goals These are solid veteran managers that care about their people and that resonates with me. Although my primary role at Fitz’s is to identify the next level growth opportunities and then go get them for the bottling company , I will still carry with me some of the lessons learned from the managers at Fitz’s restaurants, ……stay fixated on the fundamentals and help those around you to be successful Cheers.
