HOW TO GET SELECTED TO REPRESENT YOUR COUNTRY - a lesson in how to turn an idea into reality You don't need "ability" (I'm proof) all you need is a dash of self belief, some persistence, and the willingness to take "action." The nuttiest ideas become real when you have the courage to dream big and take the necessary persistent action to make your dreams come true. As a young kid growing up, Mick's dream was to play for Australia. But he quickly discovered desire is no substitute for ability, of which he had none. Then finally, at the age of 42, after successive failures at cricket, rugby league, rugby union, surf lifesaving and lawn bowls, he discovers the game of sudoku. Also a lesson in how to become an outstanding public speaker

💭 What Keeps You in the Game? I spoke with a coach today and asked a simple question: What keeps you in the game? More often than not, it’s about what the game has given us rather than what we’ve given to it. Coaches sacrifice endless hours, energy, and commitment to projects, planning, and people. Yet, despite the challenges, so many of us stay in the game. Why? For me, it’s simple. The moments—those unexplainable, magical instances- make all the sacrifice worth it. Little wins accumulate into moments, and it’s those moments we’re all searching for. Could you look at this inspiring moment from Norwich City: injury time, down 1-0 at home in the 90th minute? On comes Amankwa Forson, a 21-year-old Ghanaian who moved from Austria to England previously by the way of the Right to Dream initiative. He was a player who had been an unused substitute in his last 7 games, battling low confidence after losing his spot on the team. Watch how he skips while running—you can see the pure joy in his movement, the kind none of us can ever truly put into words. That is why I love this game. That is why, as coaches, we remain resolute in our search for these moments. These are the stories that remind us why we stay in the game—the power of belief, resilience, and the magic of football. 🌟 #Coaching #Football #Moments #RightToDream #NorwichCity #Inspiration https://lnkd.in/gMzYbSE8

Every athlete of Carlsen’s caliber, businessperson, artist, etc. has to have a dog in em. A killer mentality. Hurting another’s reputation in any way with no evidence is not tough. It’s overly selfish especially because those not strong enough to make a living with their play rely on the popularity of chess. Had Magnus not had a dad who sacrificed everything for him to develop as a kid ➡️ Magnus ends up an ok Chess player and is probs an engineer. No one knows his name. He’s still incredible and earned his accomplishment. Idk if I even like Niemann. That’s irrelevant. Who wants America? I can’t do the corporate BS again. Everyone stronger than Magnus can pay for his platforms. ;). Us mortals can support each other! And that will be how we sell it. Goal of chess merchandise and programs is to help beginners and club players improve. So I might be harassed or labeled a cheater for getting better using the resources Carlsen and his companies recommend? I’ll work solely on commission. If I fail or you have to replace me ➡️ Please look me in the eye and tell me why. I’ll write ya a thank you note. https://lnkd.in/gdpKivrs
Magnus indirectly trolling Hans Niemann 😜

The future of the PLL and lacrosse as a whole is very bright! Why because of its LEADERSHIP. What Paul Rabil and his brother Mike have done building the PLL from the ground up in a few short years is putting the sports/business world on notice. Where I believe their leadership has exceled, is their agility (which he even mentions in one of the clips) and taking creative risks to think differently and draw attention to a non-traditional property, bringing it into the mainstream. As a fan of the sport, sure it's easy for me to watch/engage. But its also a fascinating case study in business startups, marketing, leadership for any business leader! #leadership #lacrosse #professionalsports #premierlacrosseleague
Paul Rabil isn’t the first person to try and start a league from scratch in the modern era — but he’s the first to do it this way.

Dr Cath Bishop (1989), three-time Olympian and silver medallist, spoke to BBC Radio 4's Today Programme this morning. She talked about how the Paris Olympians should approach the question of 'What should I do next?', the role of coaching in developing athletes as people, and why just using medals as a metric of success is short-sighted. How many times do you say this? I can't do that because... 😴 I'm too tired 😰 I'm too busy 🤕 I'm injured, or unwell ⌛ I don't have enough time 💰 It's too expensive Sometimes clients tell me they can't do a fitness session with me today because they have a bad knee. My response - "that's OK, let's do an upper body workout instead". There's always something you can do! I always get inspired by the Paralympics, because the athletes have an incredible mindset. Take Jessica Long, the Russian-American Paralympic swimmer who is about to compete in her 5th olympic games, yet has no legs. Do you think she says, "I can't swim today, because I have no legs". Of course she doesn't! Instead, she's won 29 medals (16 of them gold) 🎖 so far. I can't wait to see what she does in Paris. The same goes for Bill Clements - the one armed Bass Guitarist 👇 . Does having one arm stop him from playing his guitar brilliantly? Of course it doesn't! If you think you can't do it, then you won't do it! The choice is yours. What's your excuse? Your Health is your Wealth and REMEMBER - small steps, create a BIG impact! If this resonates with you, then let's chat 🤙 #mindset #paralympics2024 #inspire #womenover40 #businessowners #excuses
