🙏Our thoughts are with those affected by the devastating earthquake in #Morocco, as we highlight #AfricaUnion (AU) as an permanent member of G20 at 2023 New Delhi summit in #India. This monumental inclusion not only underscores the rising significance of #Africa on the global stage but also represents a pivotal step in bridging the divides of the Global North and South, as well as East and West. The AU's membership is a testament to the G20's commitment to embracing diverse perspectives and ensuring that voices from all corners of the world are heard and included in shaping our shared future. By bringing together these distinct voices, we're inching closer to a more inclusive and interconnected global community. The summit's agenda catered to subjects critical for developing nations, encompassing topics such as alternative fuels, resource efficiency, food security, and the creation of a standardized framework for digital public infrastructure. 🌟The G20 was first established in 1999 in response to the Asian Financial Crisis and criticism of the Group of Seven (G7) to recognize the role of emerging economies in the governance of global affairs. 🌟Prior to AU joining, G20 members collectively account for 85% of world GDP, 75% of international trade, two-thirds of the global population, and 60% of the world's land area. 🌟The African Union (AU) was officially launched in 2002 as a successor to the Organisation of African Unity. 25 May 25th is celebrated as the Africa Day. 🌟The AU has 55 members with more than 1.3 billion people and an area of around 30 million km2 (12 million sq mi). As the AU takes its place in the G20, let's build a future where every nation, entrepreneur, and learner can harness the power of digital tools, access global markets, and contribute to a thriving global ecosystem.
