🎓 Wrapping Up My Second Semester! 🎓 After laying the groundwork in my first semester, I'm thrilled to share that I've just completed my second semester at the Technische Universität Chemnitz as a master’s student in Advanced Manufacturing, diving deep into the core modules of my specialization, Work Design & Sustainability Management. This semester was intense but incredibly rewarding, filled with courses like Digital Ergonomics, Lifecycle Engineering, Lifecycle-Oriented Management, and Sustainability Management. 🚀 One of the highlights of this semester was the group project in the Lifecycle Engineering module. We conducted a Lifecycle Engineering analysis on a product, comparing its performance with two different materials through Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Life Cycle Cost (LCC), Functional Assessment, and Ternary Diagram Analysis. The project was both challenging and satisfying, offering valuable insights into sustainability practices. A huge shoutout to my group members for their incredible work- Brandon Lamansky Bernie Cheruiyot Tanmay Dixit Ayush Raina Harshal Panchal. And a special mention to Professor Paulo Peças, for consistently providing invaluable support & guidance. We thoroughly enjoyed this course. 💯 I also challenged myself by taking an elective module outside of my specialization: Design and Control of Smart Production Systems. This course was quite demanding, combining various fields much like the mechatronics field, but it pushed me to expand my knowledge and skills in new directions. 🌟 Additionally, in the Research Methods module, I had the opportunity to publish a scientific review article on “Catalytic Pyrolysis of Plastic Waste: Recent Advances, Emerging Technologies, and Prospects for Circular Economy.” I presented this paper at the Annual Advanced Manufacturing Student Conference (AMSC2024), which was a great experience in scientific writing, publishing, and presentation. This experience will undoubtedly be invaluable for my future research, especially my master thesis. 🌟 Looking back, this semester was intensive, with a heavier workload due to the shorter summer semester and an increased number of modules. But it was worth every moment. ❤️ Now, I'm looking forward to the third semester, which will continue with more core modules and a new challenge: an industry-led Applied Engineering Project. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a small group to solve real-world problems and develop prototypes, a first for our course! Excited for what’s to come! 🌟 #MastersJourney #StudentJourney #WorkDesign #SustainabilityManagement #AdvancedManufacturing #StudentLife #LearningAndGrowing #ResearchAndDevelopment #LifeOfAStudent

Learning How to Solve Problems Around 80 female students from across Switzerland had the opportunity to gain insights into electrical and mechanical engineering at ETH Zürich on 28 November 2024. Organized by the student association LIMES, this year's Girls' Day (Schülerinnentag) included numerous lectures and lab visits. The students were particularly interested in topics such as the most challenging parts of the studies and the specifics of Bachelor's and Master's programs. The lectures provided not only an overview of the study structure and diverse applications but also personal career insights from speakers like Professor Gabriela Hug-Glanzmann and Professor Inge K Herrmann. After lunch, participants visited various labs, including the Institute for Dynamic Systems and Control (IDSC) and the Robotic Systems Lab, where they saw firsthand how robots will autonomously handle complex tasks in the future. The day concluded with a cozy exchange over a cake buffet, allowing students to process their impressions and ask any remaining questions. University at Buffalo, The State University of New York - This course will expose you to the transformation taking place, throughout the world, in the way that products are being designed and manufactured. The transformation is happening through digital manufacturing and design (DM&D) – a shift from paper-based processes to digital processes in the manufacturing industry. By the end of this course, you’ll understand what DMD is and how it is impacting careers, practices and processes in companies both large and small. You will gain an understanding of and appreciation for the role that technology is playing in this transition. The technology we use every day – whether it is communicating with friends and family, purchasing products or streaming entertainment – can benefit design and manufacturing, making companies and workers more competitive, agile and productive. Discover how this new approach to making products makes companies more responsive, and employees more involved and engaged, as new career paths in advanced manufacturing evolve. Main concepts of this course will be delivered through lectures, readings, discussions and various videos. This is the first course in the Digital Manufacturing & Design Technology specialization that explores the many facets of manufacturing’s “Fourth Revolution,” aka Industry 4.0, and features a culminating project involving creation of a roadmap to achieve a self-established DMD-related professional goal.

Young talents with the right technological skills … 🚀 … and yes, yes – it's easy to find them 😵 Do you know - at the MANN+HUMMEL Prototyping Center we are continuously dealing with the expectation to have solutions for new technologies, processes and products available which are not yet existing ⁉ This circumstance of course requires not only a positive and motivated mindset, it requires the right technological skills as well 🦸♂️ Keywords such as industry 4.0, #digitalization, agility and flexibility are of particular importance when we are talking about a modern inhouse prototyping shopfloor where we would like to realize latest #innovation 🛩 Having this in mind for us it’s important to convince young and talented people to join us. In addition we try to motivate them to be open for further important and necessary #futureskills 🧬 That’s why we prefer selecting young talents who just finished a vocational training inhouse and transfer our specific knowledge of innovative and modern technologies to them 😉 To strengthen this path the decision was taken, that vocational training especially for mechatronics but also for a basic mechanical training for students will be integrated into the prototyping center 🔗 With this decision a new era is marked and with the start of our recent young talents some days ago we were able officially to start with the new layout of the #prototyping center with an integrated vocational training setup 💪 We are looking very much forward to shape this new era accordingly to our needs and are warmly welcoming our new talents 🤝 What about you? How do you try to deal with the fact that you potentially won’t find young talents with the right skills to deal with future technologies? #education #training #filtrationambassador
