If we had a nickel for every time... Let's not get mixed up. A digital twin is a dynamic digital copy of a physical entity. What makes a digital twin unique, as opposed to just a file, is that they are "living" entities that change with real-time data. Imagine testing a product before it even launches, or doing trials of your facilities before building the production floor. It's a twinning game-changer. The more you know.

🏹This one's a bit of a side quest. 🐍Is the lost of art of writing good specifications the antidote to snake oil solutions(1) and poor alignment between IT, OT & IIoT? Oh yeah, thank you Sylvain Pastor (and Marc Akoto for introducing us!) for pointing out in your comment earlier today that parallel IIoT and OT systems indicates a "spec issue"(2) which leads to vendor lock-in and poor integration. Hence the side quest to reclaim this lost art of writing good, clear and accurate specifications. In my view this is the antidote to snake oil aka poudre de perlimpinpin(3) in French 😉. See during the last 30 years we've seen the rise of black box technology and COTS (Commercial Off The Shelf) systems. We've become accustomed to abstractions and have forgotten the linkages to lower level details, especially when there has been a lack of tacit knowledge transfer (aka loss of institutional memory!). So perhaps it would be worthwhile to organize a workshop to peel back the layers, examine the fundamentals and rediscover the art of writing good specifications. What do you think?
