🏞️ Leading by Example: Sandy McKenzie's Inspiring Trek 🏞️ In the world of leadership, actions speak louder than words. It's not just about what you say; it's about what you do. In this snapshot, you'll find Sandy McKenzie, the CEO of Hamilton Medical, right in the middle of a hike with Hamilton employees. She didn't just offer support from the sidelines; she rolled up her sleeves and showed up, leading by example. The science behind this is fascinating. Oxytocin, often referred to as the "love hormone" or "bonding hormone," surges when we connect with others. It fosters trust, empathy, and collaboration—all vital ingredients for a thriving workplace. As I would nerdily say, Sandy makes people ooze with Oxytocin. Sandy's presence wasn't just a gesture; it was a powerful demonstration of leadership. Her commitment to being there with her team not only strengthens the bond but also sets the tone for a culture of engagement and performance. Sandy was the first leader, outside of my father, whom I saw truly champion a people-first culture. Her actions and support inspired many of my decisions, including the leap of faith to start my own company. Even when it meant I would transition from being her employee to asking her to be my first client. In all rationality, she could have said no, but she didn't. She didn't just mentor me; she embraced me with love and encouragement and I am forever grateful to this amazing woman for it. #LeadershipByExample #EmployeeEngagement #Mentorship #Gratitude

Founder & Owner /Certified Mindfulness Life Coach @ Loving is Key | Coaching & Mentoring/Meditation Guide/ Positive Mindset Coach/
Esther Aguet, one of the leaders of Loving Is Key LLC in Belize, Central America working with some of the Public Service Staff sharing the importance of remembering and developing our Self-Awareness. Belmopan, Belize Understanding that each of us is 100% responsible for how we choose to react or respond is a crucial aspect of personal growth and emotional intelligence. This awareness empowers individuals to take ownership of their feelings and actions, rather than placing blame on external circumstances or other people. By acknowledging our responsibility, we gain the ability to break free from reactive patterns and make conscious choices that align with our values and goals. This shift fosters resilience and promotes healthier relationships, as we learn to approach challenges with a proactive mindset. Ultimately, embracing our responsibility in how we respond can lead to a more fulfilling and balanced life, where we actively shape our experiences rather than merely reacting to them.

I research, teach, strategize & help to create successful businesses. I communicate through my novel "Becoming Somebody" & "Customer Experience Management in the Caribbean Concepts, Case Studies and Challenges"
"Love you with a sense of purpose - such a sense of purpose" sing Third World. Purpose is critical in everyone's life as it answers why am I here? A survey done several years ago in Jamaica determined that almost two thirds of the workforce did not understand the importance of their role in the organization. I don't blame the respondents - I blame their leaders. How is it possible to have a group of employees working for you who don't know why they are doing what they are doing? Instilling employees with a sense of purpose gives them a reason not only for working, but working WELL. Does that security guard know how important her role is? What about the receptionist or the cleaner? Isn't it obvious you ask... No it is not but see for yourself and then act accordingly. #senseofpurpose #leadership #motivation #mission #vision

My lunchtime TED talk. I spoke to the Honor's Leadership class at UNF yesterday and touched on a couple of these issues. I wonder if the knee jerk rejection of the initials DEI would be somewhat mitigated if the D was "differences" instead of Diversity. When many of my fellow vets think of diversity they are thinking EEO programs where there was a perception of imposed quotas or discrimination in favor of one group or another. I get it. But as I am leading a team, I want differences, different life experiences, different thought processes, different approaches to problem solving. I also believe that equity and inclusion are the logical and desired result of a good leadership. Morale requires a sense of belonging, of being appreciated for your contribution, having an equal shot at advancement and opportunity regardless of differences.
