The two greatest human needs are the need to grow and the need to contribute. Service starts with time and muscle power. You show up, and you help a hurricane victim clean out her kitchen. You show up, and you fill up boxes at a food bank. You show up, and you help bathe animals at the humane society. Sometimes that's as far as it goes. Other times, you discover an area of service that draws you in and inspires you to do more. Service CONTINUES, therefore, with deeper investment, where we begin to embody the belief that we are one another's keepers.
