As technology continues to innovate, it's getting harder and harder to keep down IT operational costs. You have to invest in emerging technologies, R&D, training, tech stacks, infrastructure, the list goes on. I would be interested in finding out in IT leaders are stretching their budget. Australia Post is reducing their IT service providers, to reduce costs but to also streamline and reduce the number of technology providers they work with. Aims to create a greater flexibility to bring in specialist resources as and when they need them. Full steam ahead with Post26! TPG Telecom is simplifying their strategy as 7 IT systems becomes decommissioned. This reduce costs and also increases their flexibility and ties in with their overall strategy of streamlining systems and platforms. Did I write that twice? It's no secret a lot of organisations are headed in the same direction, to consolidate and simplify. Here at Pluralsight, it's exactly what we do. Consolidate and simplify. Have your training under the one platform, upskill existing staff, reduce efficiencies, and costs. On demand training with sandboxes and labs. #keepupwiththenews #keepupwithyourskills #pluralsight #acloudguru

Thank you to everyone who reacted to my 4 year anniversary at #NGMN earlier this month! It is a great privilege and here are some of my reflections during my time at NGMN: Having joined NGMN in mid-2020, the COVID restrictions inevitably impacted the first 18 months, making stakeholder- and relationship management more challenging. However, many activities were initiated during this period, some of which were not visible externally. We transitioned to a digital office administration, implemented new digital platforms, and exchanged vendors to improve efficiency and ensure we remained state-of-the-art. We also completed our comprehensive rebranding, which I still love! Most importantly, NGMN, as an operator-driven global alliance, has continued to shape our industry, focusing on short-, mid- and long-term activities! Like many other organisations, we face ever-decreasing budgets and limited human resources dedicated to collaboration across our membership. This can be particularly testing for activities that only bring longer-term benefits, rather than benefit the current fiscal year. During tough economic times, these areas are often understandably the first to face cuts. But with closer inspection, it might not always be the best decision. In times of scarce resources and increased industry challenges, collaboration becomes even more beneficial and critical. It reduces costs, speeds up time-to-market of new products and services, and promotes interoperable industry standards. People often ask why I work for an alliance after having held previous job roles with vendors, consulting firms, and MNOs. Despite the ups and downs, I strongly believe in the power of #global #collaboration in shaping the full potential of #5G, the future of #6G, #greennetworks, and #disaggregatednetworks. I also love the diversity of my job in an international environment. And: all the fantastic and intelligent people I have the privilege to work with! Despite all the challenges we as an industry and as alliances face, I am incredibly optimistic that collaboration will continue to support the industry’s positive development and benefit many people. We take mobile services for granted, but when I started working in the 90ies, one of my first responsibilities was implementing Germany’s first mobile prepaid service in 1996, and its launch had a real impact on the market and customers. Since then, so many developments happened! We have a responsibility in all different markets to improve life, to connect the unconnected, to support humans and businesses and to achieve a healthy ecosystem. We cannot even imagine today how our "digital" life will look in 20 years. I find this still so exciting, even after many years in the industry! What about you? Why do you believe in the value of our mobile telco industry? What is your vision for the future? One thing is certain, collaboration from all stakeholders will continue to be a crucial factor for our progress in the years ahead!
