[Building for life] Building to connect. Take a look at some of our emblematic references, which illustrate the values of our new "Building for life" brand signature. 👉 This week, let's (re)discover Eole, a project to extend line E of the RER regional express network to the west of the Greater Paris region, on which our teams have been involved since 2017 and which has just been delivered. As leader of a consortium with Razel-Bec Fayat, Eiffage and Sefi-Intrafor, Bouygues Travaux Publics was responsible for the GC-TUN batch of the project, comprising: ➡️ A 6.1-km section of tunnel between Courbevoie and Haussmann Saint-Lazare ➡️ Neuilly-Porte Maillot station ➡️ three ancillary structures This unique construction project involved a number of challenges, as digging a 6-km tunnel and building a station in the heart of central Paris, in a highly constrained urban environment and particularly dense underground setting, between the foundations of sensitive buildings and existing transport networks. The station was inaugurated in May 2024, marking the end of what is already seen as an iconic project and the final chapter of a great human adventure for the teams involved. Once it is opened to traffic, the new RER E line will be the most interconnected in the entire Greater Paris network. Neuilly-Porte Maillot station will handle more than 30,000 passengers every day, becoming a major intermodal hub in central Paris. Bouygues Travaux Publics is extremely proud to have taken part in this project to support efficient, low-carbon mobility. #BuildingForLife #BâtirPourLaVie #mobility #tunnels #undergroundstructures © Direction du projet EOLE - SNCR Réseau / DR / Yves Chanoit

Several times recently I have seen people quote Ursula Von Der Leyen saying 'if the Green Deal has a soul, it's the New European Bauhaus' It's a lovely soundbite... but what does it mean? What does the NEB look like in practice? This series of New Bauhaus Stories from our partners in the Nebula B4P project is putting flesh on the bones of the NEB... our you could say it's giving body to the soul! Check out this episode on #regeneration and learn about two inspiring projects that embody the NEB soul.
The #NebulaB4P project is pleased to share a recording of the first webinar in its new series, ‘New Bauhaus Stories’. ‘Episode One: Co-creation of regeneration schemes’ discusses how two ongoing urban regeneration projects are being co-designed in collaboration with citizens and various stakeholders from the construction value chain. 🏗 Two demonstration sites, Pedersgata in Norway (NEB-STAR project) and Quay district in Belgium (Re-value project), present their respective approaches as part of the webinar. BOUYGUES UK 📣 “We are delving into the history of the site at Pentre Awel... Pentre Awel is a ‘once in a generation’ development located across 83 acres of land in south Llanelli. It is the first development of its scale and scope in Wales, creating a unique ecosystem that co-locates business, research, academia, health, leisure and assisted living within landmark infrastructure. As Zone One reaches completion, we are reflecting on the incredible heritage of this site. Did you know Llanelli was once known as 'Tinopolis'? In the 19th century, over 80% of the world's tinplate was produced here! The area buzzed with the activity of brickworks, tinplate, and steel production. The Pentre Awel site itself is steeped in rich history. In 1861, it was home to a brickworks company established by William Thomas, leveraging the area's abundant clay deposits. Later, the South Wales Tinplate Works dominated the landscape, contributing significantly to the region's industrial boom. By the late 20th century, the site had evolved yet again, leading to its current transformation. With a nod to this rich past, Pentre Awel is designed to co-locate business, research, academia, health, leisure, and assisted living in a single ecosystem. I'll be visiting Montreal soon and am looking forward to exploring this incredible revitalization project with my colleague Marc-Olivier Houde. Having been involved in several large scale recladding, reglazing, and revitalization projects, I'm always interested in discussing how each project addresses the multitude of challenges of working on existing buildings. We focus intently on on the technical details to optimize facade performance, daylighting, thermal comfort, condensation resistance, air tightness, water leakage resistance, constructability, durability, and maintainability. But it's equally important to understand the logistics of delivering such solutions. Site access, mobilization, facade access, safety (worker, public, and building occupant), sequencing, etc are all critical to project success. #recladding #facade #retrofit #renewal #reglazing #retrofitimperative #architecture #buildings #construction #architectural #buildingscience #innovation #rehabilitation #
We are proud to share an exciting project that our team has been working on: the complete revitalization of 600 rue de la Gauchetière, a 128-metre-high building and future head office of CN. Atelier Ten is proud to be the stream sponsor of the Retrofit Agenda Stage at FOOTPRINT+ 2024! 🌿 Really looking forward to be taken on a journey of thought-provoking discussions on how to unlock the full potential of #retrofit by our excellent panellists and moderators. How to make retrofit a main #businessmodel? What can we learn from the local law 97 in NYC? How to preserve campus identity while enhancing the character of #HigherEducation estates? What role does retrofit play in the future of #planningpolicy? How to balance the drive for #NetZero performance and #wellness requirements in #LifeSciences buildings whilst meeting the rapidly increasing demand? What are the key considerations when weaving a sensitive retrofit tapestry for #culturalinstitutions? Come join us exploring and be part of this conversation - hope to see you there! #FP24
We have teamed up with FOOTPRINT+ to curate this year’s Retrofit Agenda Stage, one of the seven main stages at the conference, which will take place at the Old Billingsgate Market in London between 8-9 May 2024. Retrofitting existing buildings can save up to 80% of embodied carbon emissions compared to standard practice of demolition and rebuilding. The programme at the Retrofit Agenda Stage is set to explore the technical, functional, financial, and aesthetic challenges and rewards of building reuse and adaptation. Our environmental engineers, sustainability experts and thought leaders will be joined by industry figures ranging from developers, architects, property portfolio managers and local authority decision makers to discuss topics such as portfolio greening through retrofit, how to transform higher education estates, retrofit-first planning policy, zero carbon and circular economy. The stage will also provide a platform for the speakers to showcase best-in-practice case studies that highlight the benefits and challenges of retrofit featuring adaptive reuse, life sciences, cultural buildings and leisure centres. Duncan Campbell, Shanta Tucker, Ivan Jovanovic, Marianne Löwgren, David Cameron FCIBSE, Gustavo Brunelli, Younha Rhee You can see the full programme of #FP24 Retrofit Agenda Stage here: https://lnkd.in/esS3Qc8M
