Active Scams On Inactive Accounts If you receive an email claiming that your account will be deleted, consider whether or not you use the account in question and verify the email's legitimacy. Think before you click. Cyberattacks are designed to catch you off guard and trigger you to click impulsively. Be cautious before logging in to accounts through an email link. Instead, navigate to the organization’s official website to log in.

☣ Watch your emails! ☣ This was flagged by Google as legitimate sender, it is a PDF that contains a false invoice for NortonLifeLock with a corresponding invoice ID. Aside from it not coming from a valid Norton email, after doing some digging, the SPF record contained a malicious IP. #phishingawareness #norton #gmail

In light of the breach from Twitter, Linkedin, Dropbox and others, I've had people asking me what to do. We'll firstly it helps to know if you are affected. You probably are but if you want to know for sure you can head over to https://lnkd.in/gSEdvu2Y They collect the data and let you securely check if you were affected. If you are affected the next step is to open your password manager(get one if you don't have one, they are all reasonable, I happen to use 1Password), and begin the process of visiting each site and updating your password. It's tedious, annoying, and a huge time sink, but trust me better to spend an hour rotating passwords then spend months trying to recover an account.

There's a historically accurate chance that your email has been part of a breach. You can check on haveibeenpwned.com . And that is why you should always set up MFA.

Email, tip for the day: Use different email accounts for different purposes. If a hacker gets access to your email and password, they won't have access to all of your accounts.

CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS! I propose the following activity before pouring your Friday drink: 1. Go to https://lnkd.in/dTQYBDcf and check your important email addresses. It will tell you if your email address/password used to login to sites like Facebook, LinkedIn and .... have been hacked. 2. Install a password manager on your devices. I recommend 1Password, Dropbox Passwords and Norton Passwords. 3. Change your password on all sites you care about. The password manager can help you create strong passwords (or search for "how to..."). Do not reuse passwords. 4. Activate" Multi-factor Authentication". You do that in "Settings" on each Application. Probably under Security. 5. Activate a calendar notification to repeat the above every month. Or at least every quarter. Questions? 6. Pour your drink, tell your family what you did (and that you love them) and have an awesome weekend! /Your olive in the Dry Martini

Do you have an email account lurking in the background that you no longer use? Maybe you set it up for a specific purpose, or now have a work email that you prefer to use? If it has been dormant for two years or more, Google will be shutting it down. If Yahoo, it will be closed after twelve months. A great move to protect from identity theft and the poaching of sensitive info but it is not so great if you have some stuff on there that you want easy access to. If you can’t remember the last time you logged onto your Gmail or Yahoo account, and couldn’t care – no action is needed!! But if you think you may have something you want to retrieve, or want to use the account again, best to log on. Once you log on, the account will no longer be seen as dormant and will survive the cull. #EmailMarketing #DigitalMarketing #ContentCreation (sleeping dog to represent inactive email account and let's face it, she is uber cute 😍)
