Cadillac is looking to join F1 in 2028. This timely announcement isn't a coincident as it falls on the same week as the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Will it actually happen though? Things aren't finalized, yet. The entry would be under Andretti Cadillac but a critical piece is missing. Andretti has not been approved by F1. They have only received approval from the FIA. There seems to be considerable pushback and opposition to Andretti joining. I see their entry as a good thing. It brings another manufacturer into the equation and adds an 11th team to the grid. F1 has been trying to push hard into the US market, especially since the success of Drive to Survive. If they want to attract a larger US-based audience, allowing them entry would most likely be a smart move. Do you think they'll be allowed to join? #gm #cadillac #andretti #formula1 #motorsports https://lnkd.in/gc3rrE6Z

McLaren Group CEO calls for UK to be a supercar 'centre-of-excellence' for next-generation battery technology 🔋 McLaren Automotive CEO, Michael Leiters has been quoted saying: "A clear industrial strategy, led by investment in the domestic supply-chain, will deliver growth, support jobs, help decarbonise the economy and secure a vibrant future for the UK performance car industry." "The UK was once the world's largest vehicle exporter. Today it remains home to some of the world's most admired performance car brands, as well as the majority of Formula 1 racing teams," says Mr Leiters. I think he offers some brilliant points, and hopefully, his expert words are taken seriously. You can read more about what Mr Leiters had to say here: https://lnkd.in/dZzCnYDB

Congratulations, you’ve been handed the keys to a Ferrari. The catch – this Ferrari has engine problems. This is the exact scenario that many sales leaders are thrust into when entering a new organization. It is all sunshine and rainbows until you look under the hood. (Well, except for my son who would happily take his dream car in whatever state it was gifted to him 🏎.) Rebuilding the engine isn’t impossible, but it will require time and resources. Here are a few articles to help you along your journey. https://hubs.li/Q022KfgJ0 #salesleaders #salestraining #ASLANtraining #othercentered

Chimneys, horns and ailerons McLaren Group represents one of the very best British brands out there, encompassing innovation and deployment of cutting-edge tech and one I have huge admiration for. This is something fundamental that really resonates with our vision at 1fs Wealth. Whilst the end product with McLaren is a car (although during Covid they generously turned their hand to manufacturing ventilators for hospitals) both road and racing, the company remains at heart all about innovation. In a similar way, 1fs Wealth is a technology company but the products we deploy are designed to be ‘a way of life’ delivering seamless solutions to control and increase wealth. I was recently honoured to be invited on a private tour of the McLaren factory to talk all things tech innovation and cars. Huge thanks to George Farquhar, Global VIP Relations Manager at McLaren, for his generous time and sharing such interesting facts - I learnt a lot! By the way - 'chimney, horns and ailerons' refers to the aerodynamic aids on an F1 car. One of the many facts I learnt was that the company's batch of PhDs come up with a new innovation every 14 minutes! This is the power of what I call ‘big brain arbitrage’, and just imagine what we can do with AI augmenting our biological brains in the short to medium term, across all sectors, including wealth management. The major updates that three Formula 1 teams are still chasing answers from https://lnkd.in/e6e-m5eS The circumstances of the sprint race format at the bumpy United States Grand Prix left Mercedes, Aston Martin and Haas with some question marks about their latest Formula 1 updates. At Mercedes, its new floor appeared to have delivered some good potential, but there remains a degree of uncertainty about what we actually saw following Lewis Hamilton’s post-race disqualification for plank wear. Meanwhile at Aston Martin, its latest developments were clouded by the team suffering major brake problems in FP1 that left it unable to get a proper feel for things. It took the bold step of starting both its car from the pitlane, and even abandoning the new parts on Fernando Alonso’s car, to help fast track its understanding. Haas also started its cars from the pitlane because it felt that the settings it had committed to after FP1 were far from ideal. This is why all three teams will be hoping the more normal timetable in Mexico this weekend will allow them a lot more time to get to grips with the changes. Here, we take a deeper look at the changes the teams made.

When I joined McLaren Racing in 2006, I assumed I’d probably stay there for 2 or 3 years before moving on. That had been my previous pattern, and in most cases it made sense. I was brought in to deliver a step-change: a significant jump forward in capability or performance. Once delivered, I was ready for the next challenge, not caretaking the old. I’ve often assumed that the difference at McLaren was the appetite to constantly improve things, but I’ve realised recently there was another key reason. “We care” was one of the then McLaren core values, and that was at least as important to me as the technical challenges. I had always cared deeply about whatever I did, either personally or professionally, and to work somewhere where that value was shared unlocked something new! I was reflecting on this recently while dealing with an issue that occurred with a customer at FIFUM. We provide their cellular data connectivity and they were demonstrating to a customer in a new continent for the first time! Yes it was the first time we’d delivered connectivity in this location and teething troubles are normal. But this wasn’t some activity that took place while we watched by casually. Instead I lived and breathed the issue until it was resolved 24 hours later. Immediately after the problem was solved, we started work on understanding how it had happened and what we could do to stop it happening next time. There are lots of rational explanations why doing this makes sense, but the real reason is that we care about it! Do your suppliers care? #FIFUM #growth #cared
