EVENT | It has been proven that a demonstrated commitment to #DiversityandInclusion efforts is a key contributor to the success of any organisation. It is with this in mind that the International Bar Association’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee will be hosting a panel of speakers from the legal industry who will share best practice recommendations on implementing D&I policies and integrating these into #OperationalCulture. This panel - which our head of Competition | Kenya, Joyce Karanja, will form part of - will offer practical guidance on managing difficult scenarios and also provide first-hand experiences of implementing the Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) toolkit for Law Firms, which was launched at #IBAParis in 2023. On our #OrganisationalCulture, Joyce Karanja says, 'At Bowmans, we believe that diversity is about people, about the spectrum of differences and similarities of the human experience. These differences whether in race, gender, tribe, nationality, physical ability, background, experience, and way of thinking etc. add to our uniqueness and our individual ability to add value and contribute to the success of the Firm.' When: 17 September 2024, 11:15-12:30 CST Where: #IBAMexicoCity Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/da2CuTXw

This new publication by Dr Oludara Akanmidu provides a critical analysis of the enforcement regime for breach of directors’ duties in sub-Saharan Africa. Focusing on Nigeria 🇳🇬, Kenya 🇰🇪, Ghana 🇬🇭, and Tanzania 🇹🇿, it interrogates the current ‘state of play’ regarding the enforcement of directors’ duties in sub-Saharan African countries. The book examines the effectiveness of enforcement, the reasons for its successes or failures and how it might be improved in these countries. Finally, taking into consideration the specific socio-cultural context of the countries in question, it offers persuasive and practical avenues for reform. Scholars and practitioners of #comparative #corporate #law and corporate #governance in #Africa will be of interest. For more information on the book visit: https://lnkd.in/dY-BsyUU
