It seems my email about strength standards upset some precious petals on my list. (Hint: The lazy ones who despise objectivity because it reveals their character). Anyway, as it made some of my (now ex) subscribers very cross, I figured it'd be a good idea to repost them here. My standards are: Barbell back squat – 1.75x bodyweight Barbell bench press – 1.25x bodyweight Barbell deadlift – 2x bodyweight Barbell overhead press (standing) – 1x bodyweight Bodyweight pullups (any grip) – 15 reps in one set Bodyweight dips – 25 reps in one set One mile run – 7 minutes Three mile run – 23 minutes If you can do these, you have a powerful physique. Original Version: 1. Chin Ups 10 Reps 2. Push ups 20 Reps 3. Split Squats 20 Reps 4. Chin ups 10 Reps 5. Squats 20 Reps 5 sets. Total 400 reps in 17 min. Modified Version: Do each exercise as many times as you can safely for 5 sets. Aim to increase reps during each session.
