When I opened the doors to McKissack & McKissack, there were many uncertainties: I stepped away from a stable career, I didn’t have a roster of clients, and there were very few people who looked like me in the #AEC industry.
What I did have was a mantra: hungry, humble and smart, the model Patrick Lencioni talks about in his book “The Ideal Team Player.” What does that mean for McKissack & McKissack?
Hungry: We have an insatiable appetite for success. We embrace challenges and are constantly seeking growth and new opportunities.
Humble: Humility is the cornerstone of our team dynamic. Humility drives us to make decisions for the collective good, removing any and all ego from our process. Here, we listen to each other, give credit where it’s due regardless of a title, and take accountability as a team.
Smart: We aren’t just engineers and architects. At McKissack & McKissack, we value emotional intelligence because we know that’s what builds strong relationships. We’re also adaptable, flexible and agile. No two days are the same in this industry; we know that, and we embrace the uncertainty.
That mantra continues to guide us as a company–we’ve worked tirelessly to create a culture where growth, diversity and innovation are at the forefront of our decisions. That is why people love working with and for us.
If this resonates, I invite you to explore our open roles on our company LinkedIn page - McKissack & McKissack.
