Not a lot of you might've seen this post coming this year, as it might come as a huge surprise to some, but I have decided to leave Legoland California after almost 8.5 years. My time at Legoland has been nothing short of crazy. Both good and bad crazy, and I have gone through so much during my time here at the resort. I've grown and flourished in more ways than I'm able to count and I am ever so grateful and proud of all my accomplishments and growth that I have undergone since being employed here. When I first started, I was just looking for a high school summer job, so I would be able to save some money to hopefully buy my own car, and save some money for college. Little did 16-year-old Megan think that she was going to go through so much of her life at this place. I have spent 1/3 of my life working at Legoland, and I am so privileged to have had the opportunities that I was given and worked so hard to have earned. I've had the opportunity to build relationships and learn new skills. I had the immense pleasure of representing my home department of Retail in the Pilot Agile Leaders Program at the Resort, and I represented them immensely well. I ended up buying my own car years later with the money that I earned all by myself. I put myself through school financially (thank you tuition reimbursement for helping). I earned 3 college degrees. I worked 2 jobs on top of being a college student. I traveled. I got to try new things. I failed. A lot, but I also succeeded. To say that this was an easy decision for me to leave something that has been a constant in my life for the past 8 years is a lie. Leaving something that is so comfortable for me, was the most difficult decision that I've had to make. The number of ups and downs that I talked myself into and that I've talked to others about (almost every day) was turmoil, and I was winding myself up with all of this in my head, wondering if I'm making the wrong choice by staying, or if I'm making the wrong choice of leaving. I have no backup plan, and that terrifies me to great lengths. But I'm also so excited to see where this next chapter of my life takes me. I'm terrified of failing, but I'm also terrified of never even try and I end up asking the question, "What if?" To LEGOLAND California Resort, Karen Radzinski, Greg Radzinski, and Rachel Coffman, you have all pushed me to lengths I didn't even know that I could ever be capable of. Thank you for believing in me, even when I didn't. Thank you to all of you who have been with me on this incredible journey. Thank you LEGOLAND California Resort for all of the memories and growth. I will miss this place, but I'm grateful for all that you've given me.

So, I followed my passions and hobbies: Working out, retail, technology — and got hired in these industries. The skills I learned from those seemingly unrelated jobs continue to impact my life: • Blockbuster - Manning the floor demonstrated the power of asking clarifying questions. • Bally's - Selling gym memberships taught me how to craft offers based on the customer’s goals. • Verizon - Being a sales rep required empathizing with someone before trying to help or sell them anything. Right now, all of your different experiences may not seem like they work together, but trust me they do. As a business owner, I use these lessons daily. This summer, we're celebrating Tyrannosaurus Tech’s 8 year anniversary. 🥳 What's your "unlikely" career journey been?

Ten-year-old fanboy Tim would be ‘green’ with envy, let me tell you. ⚾ Bad puns aside, I tell people all the time that a career in video marketing is second to none because most days, it’s like having an all-access, unfiltered, behind-the-scenes pass into the inner workings of industry masters. Just like Dorothy in the Land of Oz, we get to peek behind the curtain and witness how innovations are concocted, technologies are forged, and champions are bred. We're in the board room, the locker room, and everywhere in between… Capturing the essence of brand journeys  Telling the stories of leaders shaping our future Showcasing the human side of corporate giants In what other career field do you get to hang with the C-Suite, brainstorm with visionaries, and be a part of strategic brand discussions? Or in the case of yesterday, literally stand in Red Sox manager Alex Cora’s office, stroll along center field, and explore the backstage halls of baseball legends. And the best part? 🌈 Gratitude and Growth For the last 9 months, I've been navigating the dynamic intersection of academia and industry as a full-time Master's student at the University of Windsor, majoring in Engineering, while also immersing myself in the fast-paced world of retail and pharmacy as a full-time intern at Loblaw Companies Limited. 📚💼 🚀 Lessons Learned 1. Time Management Mastery: The ability to efficiently allocate time between academic pursuits and professional responsibilities has been a game-changer. Learning to prioritize tasks and deadlines has not only enhanced my productivity but also enriched my overall experience. 2. Resilience in the Face of Challenges: Navigating the intricacies of academia and the workplace simultaneously has taught me to be resilient. Challenges are inevitable, but it's our response to them that defines our journey. Each obstacle has been an opportunity for growth. 3. The Art of Prioritization: Amidst the chaos, I discovered the importance of prioritizing not just tasks but also self-care. Making time for personal well-being is not a luxury; it's a necessity. It's amazing how a small break can rejuvenate the mind and fuel productivity. 4. Teamwork and Collaboration: Working seamlessly with the incredible team at Shoppers and my fellow students at the University of Windsor has underscored the significance of collaboration. The synergy between academia and the professional world has been a driving force behind my success.

Today marks my 13th Anniversary as a member of The Brydens Group. I feel privileged to have had the chance to collaborate with influential individuals who have enabled me to forge a fulfilling path while contributing value to the organization. Reflecting on my journey, if you had asked me at the outset if I envisioned myself in my current role, I would likely have answered affirmatively. I have always been driven and recognized the unique skillset I possess and how it can effectively be utilized. My philosophy includes volunteering my talents where I believe they can make a difference, regardless of personal gain. This approach has not only opened doors to unforeseen opportunities but also allowed me to display abilities beyond my designated responsibilities. At Brydens, I have transitioned from Brand Manager to Business Development Manager and now Group Corporate Affairs Manager—a career trajectory that aligns perfectly with my aspirations. Each role has been a learning experience, allowing me to refine my skills and maintain a perpetual sense of excitement. Ultimately, it boils down to comprehending your value. In essence, if you view yourself as a brand, what principles do you stand for? My journey highlights the significance of hard work, belief, and being a bit of a dreamer. Defining your identity and ensuring that you consistently deliver on it is paramount. The memories are endless and only matched by the lessons learned. My teams in Lubbock, Amarillo and Clovis are the reason to celebrate these 4 years. You guys make the communities you serve even better. You provide care for so many beautiful souls. To celebrate these four years. Here are some lessons learned: 1. Most hard decisions are made easier when wearing adorable slippers. My favorite office nickname to date is slippers. 2- When encountering an intense situation don’t handle it in isolation. My team has great ideas, I just have to be intentional at asking good questions. If you feel like you are over-communicating. You are probably just now communicating enough. 3- Plan for fun and always have a pulse on your energy as a leader. I can be intense and I know that about myself so I schedule fun with my team. That looks different everyday and from team to team but that is really where I get to learn about them and they are the most important thing. 4- Protect the culture. It is the foundation of who we are and how we thrive. Here’s to the next year! The best is to come!
