We’re proud to mark International Women in Engineering Day 2024! 🥳🤝   Now in its 11th year, #INWED is a celebration of the work done by women engineers across the globe.   This years theme is #EnhancedByEngineering, so we asked some of our colleagues to share their thoughts on the importance of female representation in engineering and the impact it’s had on the industry. Swipe through to hear what they had to say. 💭   We don’t believe there are limits to what women in engineering can achieve and hope these stories inspire others to pursue careers in this space.    To hear more check out. ⬇️   on.bp.com/3VQeMfT   #INWED24 #WomenOfbp #Inclusion

BP Broken Promises

About a year ago I posted this in response to one of a series of similar promotions of carefully chosen worthy causes on behalf of BP. Since then the BP Pensioner Group has doubled in size. Looks like your Pensioners are not going to 'go away' any time soon! Dear Kerry, Equity Week is a massive opportunity for BP to add Pensioners to their list of worthy causes as part of this commendable # Equity in Action initiative. It is well known that the previously loyal BP Pensioners have formed an Action Group which is now 1500 strong. If your last line, "I couldn't be prouder of the passion I see in my colleagues at bp to strive for equity" applies to anyone right now it is definitely the BP Pensioners. Unfortunately their 'fight for fairness' was addressed in a response to a BP Staff question about BP Pensions, answered by BP last week. I think it was stated that ‘many BP Pensioners continue to be vocal about their concerns’. We live in hope that the “+” of worthy causes might one day include P for your BP Pensioners ? #EquityinAction #bpPensions

BP Betraying Pensioners

bp is proud to mark International Women in Engineering Day 2024? Really? So why does it slap in the face those that have retired? Do bp realise that in deliberately harming pensioners they are helping to tarnish their fond memories of decades of loyal work to build the company? Why does modern-day bp not recognise, value or treasure their former employees? Their behaviour says so much more about current management than anyone else could. #BPPensions #ageism

Why not simply engineers day for all, and not forget bp pensioners #bp #bppensioners

And for the third year in a row bp disavows all women who used to work in engineering for the company. I guess pride only goes so far, until it costs you money. For the third year running, bp is breaking its commitments to its former UK employees to protect their pensions from inflation and shortchanging the retirees to the tune of 11% just over the last few years. Despite the fund trustees recommending a higher increase. And despite 40 years of promises to their employees, among whom there are quite a few female engineers. bp continues to ignore and marginalize its UK pensioners in a direct violation of its own Code of Conduct (which appears to be rather selectively applied to begin with). Employees are censored and silenced when bringing up the issue. Gaslighting and a rather liberal spin of “facts” best describe bp‘s behavior when forced to explain their actions. And bp has become the focus of parliamentary inquiries. Is that how you behave when you are proud of your (former) employees‘ accomplishments and contributions? I don’t think so. No matter how many self-congratulatory posts bp publishes here. #BPpensions

Well there are limits though aren’t there bp, because once these women retire they become harmed by your broken pension promises, with women retirees more likely to be impacted the most by a reduction in their pensions of 11%. And that is before you consider the mental health impacts of betrayal from a company many gave their working lives to. Diversity and Inclusion should be prevalent at all times, not discarded once you reach a certain age. #bp #BPpensions #codeofconduct
