I recently completed my financial data analysis dashboard, designed to provide an in-depth look at market trends, industry performance, and sales insights. This powerful tool is essential for making data-driven decisions and strategic planning. Working with a dataset that included the market capitalization and quarterly sales data of the top 500 Indian companies was part of the project. Came across a fascinating article in ET BFSI that delves into the core challenges faced by India's leadership. The part that resonated most with me aligns perfectly with the ethos of my firm, Sriya Enterprise (www.sriyaent.com). Key takeaway that caught my attention and which also incidentally is my firm Sriya Enterprise's tag line "Training That Sticks. Compliance That Clicks" 1. Compliance: The finance sector is experiencing a growing need for compliance due to increasing regulatory requirements will be a way ahead. Companies will have to budget for the same 2. Skill Gap in Compliance: Despite the high demand, there is a shortage of professionals with the necessary compliance skills and knowledge. 3. Emphasis on Training: Companies are increasingly recognizing the importance of training and upskilling their existing workforce to meet compliance needs. Hence the need to upskill and upgrade is more so now than ever before 4. Educational Partnerships: Firms are partnering with colleges and universities to develop training programs focused on compliance and regulatory knowledge. 5. Innovative Recruitment Strategies: Banks and financial institutions are diversifying their hiring practices, seeking professionals from varied backgrounds to address compliance and training challenges effectively. 6. But on the other side, there are millions of youngsters looking for jobs. Lack of skills is a major challenge. Bankers are hiring more engineers now than finance professionals. In fact, global banks are hiring philosophers, and psychologists because they feel they can be a great support while using AI to evaluate new-age borrowers. Finance heads and CFOs are hiring data scientists and data visualisers. They want people to measure their carbon footprint and make better use of AI and Gen AI. With increasing compliance requirements, the finance sector will demand more compliance officers. The major requirement for finance firms is product development managers, app developers, ChatGPT and OpenAPI experts… but there is limited talent. Many companies have begun partnering with colleges and universities but find it difficult to get the right talent. Breaking into the fast-paced world of tech-enabled financial careers became more accessible for aspiring young minds through the innovative Campus to Tech-enabled Financial Careers (C2FC) training program by the TNS India Foundation! This initiative holds immense potential to support students from under-resourced backgrounds, providing them with opportunities for formal employment and kickstarting their journey towards economic resilience. The program is supported by Standard Chartered India. With this partnership, we're poised to train 2000 students from disadvantaged backgrounds across 5 locations: Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, and Chennai. Our goal is not only to train these students but to place at least 80% of them in the sector, ensuring tangible outcomes for their future careers. The program is already making strides, with the training of 227 students currently underway in Hyderabad and Chennai. Expansion plans are in the pipeline for Bangalore, Pune, and Mumbai soon. Embedded within our ethos is a commitment to gender diversity, which is reflected in our program design. At least 60% of the program beneficiaries are female. Typically, boutique analytics firms are smaller in size when compared to GCCs or IT/ITes firms and may not offer the same level of opportunities to data engineers in terms of compensation and career growth, which leads to a higher attrition rate. However, it should be noted that there has been a decrease in the attrition rate across company types when compared to the previous year’s report published by AIM Research. As the demand cycle is expected to be moderate in 2023, the attrition rate has also declined.
