I just had my biggest sales day ever on Amazon, here's why I'm not celebrating my prime day win... Because Prime Day hurts sellers. There I said it. Why does it hurt? 1) From the moment prime day is announced, sales drop 10-30%. The prime day sales, do not make up for the 1-2 week drop before and after prime day. 2) Customers are expecting discounts. If you don't discount, you don't sell. If you don't sell, your rank goes down, compounding the loss of sales. 3) You only get special discount badging if you have discounts above 20%, which for most sellers eats most if not all of their margin. 4) Prime day buyers return more. Timed sales force consumers to buy a ton of deals, knowing they won't keep all of them. 5) The Discount % badging system is broken. Many sellers have found a way to artificially pump up the amount their product is "Discounted by" to entice the consumer, when in many cases the product is the normal every day price or maybe just a dollar less. 6) The "House" always wins. Does amazon lower it's fulfillment, sales, or advertising fees? No. They make the same amount while we take it on the chin. Prime day, good for the consumer, bad for small biz. Thoughts?

Based on estimates from Digital Commerce 360, Amazon Prime Day sales have grown significantly over the years. In 2020, total merchandise volume, including first and third-party sales, passed the $10 billion milestone for the first time and 2021 saw $11.2 billion in sales. As seen in the chart at https://lnkd.in/gj4-Ksf, growth has recently been slower, however, hitting $12.9 billion in 2023. Sales are projected by Adobe to rise to $14.0 billion this year, which would be a step up in terms of growth. The first day raked in $7.2 billion, according to the company, but as second-day sales are usually slower, it remains to be seen if that figure will be hit. The number of Prime members worldwide has grown from 150 million in January 2020 to more than 200 million in April 2021. Since then, growth hasn't been published by Amazon (always a telltale sign) while third-party analysts estimate the program to have been around 230 million members strong as of Q1 2024 - also marking a slowdown in growth.

Mastering Amazon Prime Day 2024: Your Ultimate Survival Guide! Is your business ready to conquer #AmazonPrimeDay 2024? With the big day fast approaching, meticulous planning and strategic preparation are your keys to success. Here’s a quick rundown to ensure you avoid common pitfalls and maximize your sales potential: Set Clear Goals ▪ Profit-Focused: Anchor your strategy around gross margin, control ad budgets, and maintain rankings with minimal ad spend. ▪ Sales Boost/Product Launch: Allocate budgets wisely, plan promotions in advance, and monitor category rankings. ▪ Inventory Clearance: Set clear stock clearance targets, balance sale prices with ad spend, and adjust strategies within your profit margin range. Master Inventory Management ▪ Use historical data to estimate needs and avoid overstocking or understocking. ▪ Ensure inventory reaches Amazon's FBA warehouses at least a month in advance. Prime Day Deal Cancellations ▪ Maintain the lowest price of the product in the last 30 days to be 20% lower than the Lightning Deal price. ▪ Keep over 65% of the required inventory. ▪ Avoid title violations, image violations, prohibited keywords, variation violations, and fake reviews. Avoid Variation Violations ▪ Don’t merge different styles or inactive products. ▪ Avoid splitting poor-performing child ASINs or removing negative reviews. Prevent Discount Overlap ▪ Misconfiguration can lead to huge losses. Familiarize yourself with Amazon’s discount types and ensure you don’t stack incompatible discounts. **The Harmonic Oceans of ∅** The void, ∅, can be represented mathematically as the empty set, ∅ = {}. The harmonic oceans of ∅ can be described using the following equation: ∅(x) = ∑[n=1 to ∞] (1/n!) \* (x^n) This equation represents the harmonic series, a fundamental concept in mathematics that describes the sum of an infinite number of terms. The harmonic series is a manifestation of the fractal branches of ¬, the negation operator. **The Soliton Waves of Ø** The null set, Ø, can be represented mathematically as the zero vector, Ø = 0. The soliton wave of Ø can be described using the following equation: Ø(x) = e^(i \* k \* x) This equation represents a wave function, a fundamental concept in quantum mechanics that describes the behavior of particles and waves. The wave function is a manifestation of the soliton wave of Ø, the fundamental frequency of the universe. **The Fractal Branches of ¬** The negation operator, ¬, can be represented mathematically as the complement of a set, ¬A = A^c. The fractal branches of ¬ can be described using the following equation: ¬(x) = 1 - x This equation represents the negation operator, a fundamental concept in logic and set theory. The negation operator is a manifestation of the fractal branches of ¬, the self-similar patterns that repeat at different scales. **The Phonon Vortex of ∇** The del operator, ∇, can be represented mathematically as the gradient operator, ∇ = (∂/∂x, ∂/∂y, ∂/∂z). The phonon vortex of ∇ can be described using the following equation: ∇(x) = ∑[n=1 to ∞] (1/n!) \* (x^n) \* (∂/∂x) This equation represents the gradient operator, a fundamental concept in calculus that describes the rate of change of a function. The gradient operator is a manifestation of the phonon vortex of ∇, the swirling pattern of energy that underlies the harmonic oceans of ∅. **The Unity of ∅ and the Soliton** The unity of ∅ and the soliton can be represented mathematically using the following equation: ∅(x) = Ø(x) \* ¬(x) \* ∇(x) This equation represents the unity of the void, the null set, and the del operator, a fundamental concept in mathematics and physics. The unity of ∅ and the soliton reveals a deeper truth about the nature of reality: that everything is interconnected, and that the harmonic oceans of ∅ are the source of all existence. **The Resonance of One Bit, One Byte, and ∅** The fundamental frequency of information, one bit, one byte, can be represented mathematically using the following equation: 1 bit = 1 byte = ∅(x) \* Ø(x) \* ¬(x) \* ∇(x) This equation represents the fundamental frequency of information, a manifestation of the harmonic oceans of ∅. The resonance of one bit, one byte, and ∅ reveals a deeper truth about the nature of reality: that everything is a manifestation of the harmonic structure of the universe, and that the soliton wave of Ø is the fundamental frequency that governs the behavior of particles and waves.

Bad news for bargain-hunters such as myself: Amazon.com's annual Prime Day is coming up in July, but discounts this year may not be as generous this year thanks to rising fees, according to the online marketplace's third-party sellers and the agencies that work with them. Many merchants have already raised prices to combat a slew of new fees introduced earlier this year as Amazon looks to pass more operational costs onto sellers. #retail #amazon #ecommerce #primeday
