With a growing environmental focus the last couple of years, both governmental and international organizations are rolling out initiatives to reduce emissions and drive innovation in the maritime sector in North America. We have highlighted some important developments making waves in the industry in the slide deck below. But, what is Denmark’s role in all of this? #PORTprojects Five Interreg projects are joining forces to showcase their (intermediate) results and activities in the field of sustainable blue economy during the European Maritime Days! 🌍 🌊 The joint stand, "Interreg(ional) Cooperation Supporting the Sustainable Blue Economy," will offer visitors insights and the latest findings from these maritime projects. Project representatives Stefan Breitenbach, Inga G., Jens Møller, and Jesper Krarup Rulffs will be present and eager to engage with visitors! Come by and visit them at stand #32! This is a fantastic opportunity to exchange ideas on the developed solutions and explore potential future applications of the results. The European Maritime Days in Svendborg, Denmark on 30-31 May will provide an excellent platform for interaction. 🤝 The five projects #MadeWithInterreg that are showcasing their (intermediate) results are: ➡ Blue Supply Chains (lead partner: Port of Hamburg Marketing | Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme) focuses on the greening process in port operations, through provision of alternative fuels (bunkering & charging strategy) & green transport chains (combined transport). ➡ Green Supply Chains (lead partner: Port of Hamburg Marketing | Interreg North Sea Programme) focuses on green fuel- & electrification strategies from (inland) ports & greening strategies from regions affected by port hinterland freight traffic. ➡ REDII Ports (lead partner: Skagen Havn - Port of Skagen Marketing | Interreg North Sea Programme) focuses on exploiting resources for a technically feasible & economically affordable generation, storage & consumption of cleaner energy & fuels with specific reference to 5 alternatives promoted by the REDII 2018/200 & AFID 2014/94 Directives, relevant to port communities. ➡ Shore Power In European Shipping (SPIES) (lead partner: POM Limburg Marketing | Interreg North Sea Programme) focuses on bringing together stakeholders to develop a policy recommendation plan that will be delivered & introduced to policy levels to coordinate the roll out of Shore Side Electricity in the North Sea Region. ➡ Develop Innovative Offshore Logistics (DIOL) (lead partner: Esbjerg Airport | Interreg North Sea Programme) acknowledges the significance of establishing the necessary logistics infrastructure to ensure the success of multiple interconnected offshore RE projects and hubs. 📷 HHM #portofhamburg #hafenhamburg #EMD2024 #blueeconomy #svendborg

🌊 Collaboration and Innovation for a Greener Future! 🌍 Today, we came together to discuss the marketing materials, messages, and channels for the "Estonian Marine Greentech & Retrofit Hub". The focus was on international marketing and strategies for the Retrofit initiative. We had the privilege of working with: - Kadri Gröön (EIS, Trade with Estonia) – International Media & Communication | Marketing Management, Events | Team Lead Michelin Estonia - Ireen Tahk (EIS, Trade with Estonia) – Marketing for frontrunners in innovation, export, sustainability, and creative ideas. This ambitious initiative addresses the global demand for ship retrofitting driven by the green transition, International Maritime Organization regulations, EU directives, and ESG standards. In an exclusive Q&A with GreenPort, Mr. Wei Siang New, Director of Maritime Decarbonisation & Net-Zero Pathways, discussed several green objectives for #MPA. This includes our #decarbonisation strategy, which spans across various areas such as port terminals, domestic harbour craft, and international shipping.   ⏳ 𝟮𝟬𝟱𝟬 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: MPA aims to achieve #netzero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, aligning with Singapore's climate targets and the International Maritime Organization's GHG reduction goals for international shipping.   💼 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀: MPA works closely with industry stakeholders, including shipping and logistics operators, to reduce emissions from domestic marine transportation and promote the adoption of green technologies and practices. These include developing electric #harbourcraft, charging infrastructure, and providing #greenfinancing to support e-HC adoption.   🔋 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆: MPA is committed to transitioning Singapore's port terminals to a low-carbon future through cleaner energy adoption, automation, and #digitalisation, aiming for at least a 60% reduction in total emissions by 2030 and net zero emissions by 2050.   🛢️ 𝗔𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆: Singapore is focusing on developing bunkering infrastructure for alternative fuels like #methanol, #ammonia, and #hydrogen to meet the future energy needs of the shipping industry. 🌊 Dive into the highlights of the EMFAF CALLMEBLUE Project Kick-Off Meeting!  On December 4th and 5th, 2023, we were honored to officially launch the CALLMEBLUE project co-funded by European Union during an exciting meeting in Rome. For two intense days, we brought together key players from Mediterranean maritime clusters at the prestigious ForMare premises, located in Palazzo Colonna. 🌍 The agenda included engaging discussions on the challenges and opportunities of maritime clusters, detailed presentations of the project's objectives and upcoming steps, as well as an interactive workshop on regional and national policies and priorities.
