Our recently accepted research article is set to be published in the esteemed Journal of Public Administration and Development. The focus of our study is on the underplayed roles of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), specifically their potential as mediators between fragmented public administrations in conflict-ridden countries. Drawing insights from interviews with various stakeholders in Yemen, we argue that NGOs may play a crucial role in mediating between conflicting authorities to effectively carry out their activities. Acting as a bridge, they can help maintain relations between the two divided administrations and potentially facilitate the post-conflict state-building process. While acknowledging that not all NGOs are suited for or obligated to fulfill this role, we identify four key enabling factors: 1) stakeholders' willingness to engage, 2) public support for the NGO, 3) the adequate capacity of NGOs, and 4) support from donors.

One of the highlights of the 10th EI Africa Regional Conference was the election of new Committee Members. Mariama Chipkaou of Niger was elected as the new Chairperson of the EI Africa Regional Committee, while Richard Gundane of Zimbabwe was chosen as the Vice Chairperson. Youths are no longer satisfied with feeling heard. To truly build trust, their voices must be met with a positive responsive action from the government. This is how we promote transparency and participation in the public sector. In Mongolia, citizens are being trained to rate the quality of public services using a community scorecard tool. In response, the government addresses the gaps in service delivery and sought the citizen's final feedback. As a result, 84 public services have been checked, improving trash collection, expanding access to water, and improving quality of school services. This feedback loop has contributed to infrastructural development and deepened trust.
