Despite technological advancements, the VR industry faces a significant challenge in gaining widespread consumer interest. This year (2023), VR and AR headset sales in the U.S. plummeted by nearly 40%, totaling only $664 million. This stark decline raises questions about the future of VR, despite major investments by companies like Meta. The key challenge lies in making VR more integrated and relevant to everyday life. Less friction between the consumer and hardware is needed before mass adoption happens #VirtualReality #TechTrends #MarketInsight
I think AR is a better option for everyone in my opinion I see more uses in that so far, but there’s still a price issue and content problem with those as well. I still find it mad how much money has been invested and lost and the issues are staring people right in the face. Im sure I have read that Microsoft are now getting involved with meta quest to bring game pass to meta quest. I think that’ll be the start of something more positive, but is it too late though ?
Unpractical gimmick for the most part 👎🏼

10moVR manufactures / developers need to relise they need to increase the content and applications, they need to treat it like a games console. With all the currently used applications and uses need to be treated as extras or add on benefits. Currentlly graphics are poor and current games are boring once you’ve experienced them once. it’ll never catch on in my opinion to the masses until they’ve improve the actual content. Also they need to treat the hardware as a loss leader like Microsoft and Sony do with there consoles. Until then it’ll be treated like a gimmick gadget for the well off consumer or businesses looking to impress at roadshow stands and will only ever gain a short attention span. Even in business somtimes I currently find my self shaking my head at its current uses, where traditional methods and problem solving methods provide a simpler cheaper method to implement.
