You won’t get promoted as a software engineer unless you demonstrate this one quality 👇 👉 Taking Ownership What does it mean to take ownership? When you own something, you care for it. For example, if you own a laptop, you will do your best to keep it clean, protect it, and keep it up to date with the latest security updates. Basically, you will look after it without someone having to tell you to do so. The same concept applies to ownership in software engineering. You take the responsibility of understanding the requirements and the overall architectural design, ensuring that the code is of high quality and easily maintainable, while meeting the needs of the user. You take the initiative to seek solutions, improve product quality, and initiate communication with relevant stakeholders. Ownership is about taking charge of something and embracing the responsibility that comes with it. Once you start doing this, you will stand out from everyone else. This quality can be built bit by bit by first owning tasks, then features, and eventually entire projects. Some of my favorite definitions of ownership from the people of Reddit are as follows: “Ownership in a job sense is the opposite of ‘that’s not my job’". “Ownership is the opposite of standing around with a dumb look on your face, waiting to be told what to do.” #softwaredevelopment #CareerAdvice #JobAdvice

Being a software engineer is like some days, you're on fire, effortlessly solving complex problems and feeling like a coding superhero. But then there are those other days. The days where nothing seems to go right and you stare at your screen, feeling utterly clueless. It's a constant cycle of highs and lows, but i think that's just part of the thrill of being a software engineer, right? 🚀💻 #SoftwareEngineering #UpsAndDowns

Software Engineer - II @ Amazon Web Services (AWS) | Leader in Cloud Computing | Artificial Intelligence | I help aspiring employees to build resume | Growth Mindset
Are you doing it right !? So many software engineers only focus on building the new shiny product. Instead part of the focus should be: - Deliver the features that the customer wants - Improve testing coverage - Better monitoring and alerts (you are running blind without it) - Maintaining the security of code by fixing CVEs - Remove tech debt Any thoughts? #softwareengineer #career
