Wow the miniVec platform looks like a game changer for both research and clinical scale molecular biology teams. About a year of my Ph.D. work was designing and amplifying plasmids. VectorBuilder would have saved me months and my PI $1000s!
DLIN-KC2-DMA
DC Chemicals provide high purit of DLIN-KC2-DMA for LNP research.
https://lnkd.in/gCnjFFTv
DLin-KC2-DMA is 100-fold and 1000-fold more potent, respectively, in silencing of a hepatic gene (Factor VII) in comparison to the previous generation lipid DLin-DMA.
A new engineering strategy for improving the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites in Streptomyces has been developed through the analysis of genes co-evolved with biosynthetic gene clusters

Maybe a little late. But yeah, so so happy that the preprint is out.
DNA has been used outside of the genetic context. It has really exciting properties making it a great engineering material. DNA-based "reactions offer a programmable method to detect diseases. The programming however has been challenging.
What does this work mean?
We have simplified the "programming" aspect. An assay for a new disease, new target could be developed by simply exchanging domains. What has otherwise been a master's or PhD thesis could be achieved by a simple swap.
Plug-and-play. The performance remains the same.
How did it happen? Some DNA magic. Hidden in the paper. Please do give it a read, and let me know for more discussions, debates, anything.
Codominance explained
Codominance
Codominance is a relationship between two versions of a gene. Individuals receive one version of a gene, called an allele, from each parent. If the alleles are different, the dominant allele usually will be expressed, while the effect of the other allele, called recessive, is masked.

Alleles, hybrids, genotypes, homozygosity, heterozygosity explained
An allele is one of two, or more, forms of a given gene variant. For example, the ABO blood grouping is controlled by the ABO gene, which has six common alleles. Nearly every living human's phenotype for the ABO gene is some combination of just these six alleles.

ADImpute is an R package combining several dropout imputation methods, including two existing methods (DrImpute, SAVER), two novel implementations: Network, a gene regulatory network-based approach using gene-gene relationships learned from external data, and Baseline, a method corresponding to a sample-wide average.
