The Brady Hunter Foundation team came together at the Jewish Community Services of South Florida Kosher Food Bank to give back to our local community! With big smiles and compassionate hearts, we packed backpacks that will soon brighten the lives of over 400 children in need, including dozens of refugees and those in homeless and domestic abuse shelters. We are so proud to be able to contribute in such an impactful way that will help so many South Florida kids start the school year with new academic tools and equipment! #PackForHope #CommunityUnity #BradyHunterCares #BrighteningLives #JCS #BradyHunterFoundation

We are deeply concerned by the alarming rise in racist and Islamophobic violence across the UK. This surge will have a particularly troubling impact on children, including many from migrant and refugee backgrounds - many of whom have already faced significant trauma. As a charity dedicated to protecting children worldwide, we see how hate and far-right rhetoric endanger the well-being of all children, particularly those in vulnerable communities. We are horrified to witness this hatred spreading on the streets of the United Kingdom. We stand with all those affected by this violence and discrimination and stay united against racism and violence. We urge political leaders to speak out against divisive narratives that threaten the safety and futures of children and communities across this country and beyond. #StandAgainstHate #ProtectChildren #EndRacism

Veteran Housing Corp applauds all efforts to build affordable housing but would challenge each and every local, state, and federal housing agency or affordable housing developer to do better in 2024 and beyond. Veteran Housing Corp demands permanent affordability for all projects receiving government funding, subsidies, tax credits, or other incentives! Veteran Housing Corp demands transparency and every local, state, and federal government agency and other stakeholders MUST provide answers to questions about the housing projects that are built with government funding, subsidies, tax credits, or incentives, including the following: 1. How much funding, federal tax credits, or government benefits or incentives from all government sources did the projects receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project? 3. What guarantees exist that tenants will not be displaced after the "affordability period expires? Every local, state, and federal housing authority and affordable or workforce housing stakeholder should adopt the State of Vermont's "permanent affordability" policy as a model for all future government funded or subsidized housing projects or developments, no exceptions! https://lnkd.in/eFEUC8c8 Additionally, local, state and federal housing agencies should look to the Helsinki, FINLAND MODEL of ending homelessness by providing affordable housing for all 'It’s a miracle': Helsinki's radical solution to homelessness https://lnkd.in/er9HZSQU
Check out Invisible People's new short documentary on Finland's success in solving homelessness. "It’s kind of impossible to rehabilitate from the streets, so a person needs a home so that other stuff can happen after that," Paula Ahonen of the Blue Ribbon Foundation (Sininauhasäätiö-konserni) says, "no one should be on the street. It’s not good for anyone — it’s not good for them and it’s not good for the society. Who benefits from that?"

Today, we honor the countless innocent children around the world who suffer as a result of conflict and violence. This day is a stark reminder of the harsh realities faced by the youngest and most vulnerable members of our global community. Children should be nurtured, educated, and loved, not subjected to the horrors of aggression and war. They are our future, and it's our collective responsibility to protect them. 🔹 Why This Matters: Awareness: Highlight the plights faced by children in war-torn regions. Action: Encourage global and local initiatives aimed at protecting and supporting these children. Advocacy: Push for stronger international policies and humanitarian aid. 🔹 How You Can Help: Educate Yourself and Others: Share information and stories about the impact of conflict on children. Support Organizations: Donate to or volunteer with organizations dedicated to helping child victims of aggression. Advocate for Change: Use your voice to support policies that protect children and provide them with the resources they need to heal and thrive. Every child deserves a chance to grow up in a safe and nurturing environment. Let's stand together and commit to making a difference. #EndViolence #ProtectChildren #GlobalResponsibility #childrights DivIn Pro Dr Juhi M Garg

New research from Depaul International published today shows Ukrainians fleeing the frontline are ending up on the streets. The full-scale invasion of Ukraine has led to a sharp rise in #homelessness, with almost a quarter of those sleeping rough becoming homeless as a direct consequence of being displaced during the conflict. The report, which is the most comprehensive look at homelessness in Ukraine to date, calls for the need to improve access to existing services for people sleeping rough and to ensure availability of housing as a priority.
