Hey there, crane enthusiasts and project champions 🏗️ Let's talk about a recent job we completed. . Premier was engaged to lift a telescopic crawler crane, the LTR 1100 off a bridge. The total load? A solid 58.4t, without the counterweight but with all the rigging gear on. We used a spreader bar and equalising triangles for the lift. Why? To evenly spread the load across all lifting points. One challenge we are often faced with is finding the centre of gravity. The key to success? Lift the boom, which will transfer the load's centre of gravity to the middle. And the catch? The boom needs to be at a 45-degree angle for the magic to happen. Knowing your equipment and the physics behind it is game-changing in crane operations. 🏗️ Crawler Cranes, Ground Pressure & Spin Mats 🏗️ Crawler cranes, with their track systems, are great for stability but they exert higher Ground Bearing Pressure (GBP). This increased pressure is a risk to ground stability. To combat this, we use engineered spin mats. Pictured here, spin mats are laid out in two rows each one metre wide, distributing the crane's weight across a larger area, reducing ground pressure and ensuring a safe lift operation. Pictured is our Liebherr 200t mobile crane setting up our 350t crawler crane that is set up on spin mats at a major infrastructure project in Melbourne.
