I am thrilled to share a milestone that signifies a transformative journey. Inspired by Stephen R. Covey's "7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens," I have embraced the principle of driving my own life, steering my growth independently. This principle applies universally, whether in the family, workplace, or any relationship. Your growth should always be self-directed, never controlled by others. If someone suggests otherwise, take charge and move forward independently. My decision to pursue I/O Psychology reflects this belief and has proven to be one of the best choices I've ever made. Despite implementing DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) initiatives, many workplaces still struggle with dissatisfaction, chaos, and burnout. It's time to create work environments where true inclusiveness, genuine equity, and fearless diversity thrive without bias. I am committed to contributing to this vision through Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) and look forward to the positive impact.

Where are you on the spectrum of problem-solving style? Every person fits somewhere on the Adaption-Innovation spectrum – from those who love lots of #structure, organization and a well-defined problem … right through to those who prefer ultra-#flexibility and a free-rein to redefine the problems in hand. Most of us fall somewhere between these polar-opposites, but perhaps with a leaning in one direction or the other. While you can change your actual #behaviour, you cannot change your innate preference. In fact, sometimes we need to work against our preference, when the circumstances we find ourselves in need us to (which can be a bit stressful). So far, our research by #academics demonstrates that it is set very early on in life – we can’t assess a baby, but we can assess some high school children, and it is already set by then. Dr Michael J Kirton (father of our Founder), believed it was probably set at birth (or even at conception or in utero). Personal Growth Amidst Retirement Life-long development extends beyond the traditional career trajectory and becomes even more valuable in retirement. Engaging in learning and personal development activities during retirement promotes mental stimulation, social connections, and a sense of purpose, leading to a fulfilling and active lifestyle.

Being an adult and making decisions for oneself can be daunting due to the complexity and responsibility involved. Unlike childhood, where choices are often made by parents or guardians, adulthood demands that we consider the long-term consequences of our actions. Each decision, from career paths to personal relationships, carries weight and potential risks. Additionally, the pressure to succeed and meet societal expectations can create anxiety and self-doubt. Financial responsibilities, such as managing bills, savings, and investments, add another layer of stress. Moreover, the vast array of choices available can lead to decision paralysis, where the fear of making the wrong choice prevents any decision from being made. Balancing personal desires with practical realities, while navigating an often uncertain and competitive world, makes the decision-making process in adulthood particularly challenging.
